Only a blind person cannot see that, while reading that I get that he his pretty happy not just they are focus on gamers but that no blocking of used games lol.
I'm happy with the PS4 so far (from what I have heard). I feel like it is the console for me and I doubt there will be anything released that will change my mind. It helps that I am a huge Sony fan, but there is no denying that they are catering to me with this machine.
There are no still no indication that the PS4 won't blocked used games or games that are rumored to be $70. Everything is just speculation thus far. Of course, the disagrees will keep on coming on N4G. That is to be expected.
Anyone downplaying the PS4 at this stage has no respect for the industry, which encompasses developers and gamers. Sony have made their stamp and earned the trust of those gamers who know that they're dedicated to bringing games and nurturing the growth of the industry (via improvement in aspects that were critisized in the past).
You don't have to like the games, you just have to give props where they're due, as a company supporting the industry in positive ways.
Well said Sony could have taken the easy way out going straight for the casuals but they didn't shows us how much respect they got for gamers and developers.
Well, many believe that games are a service, not just games. And many also believe that consoles have to have services and a focus on them. We can see the direction of the Big 3 in these areas and where their focus lies. Nintendo actually seems to have lost focus, trying to please everyone and pleasing no one. Sony has just shown that their console was built for developers and gamers (read: not games, gamers), Microsoft is rumoured to be going in a more services oriented route.
It should be fairly easy to come to the conclusion, based on how things have been going this gen, that many can be confused as to whether we are playing on game consoles, or service boxes.

So because they offer other services, that means they don't focus on gamers? Sony added Facebook integration and I guarantee it offers exactly what the ps3 did with much better hardware and interface. Until we get deep into the life cycle of the PS4 (Same with the WiiU and w/e MS makes) we have to wait to see what will be delivered. Don't let a corp head from gamestop make this call, let Sony show us and prove it to us. This man would tell you anything to make a day 1 purchase.
You clearly haven't been paying attention to business plans from others besides Sony, and that includes developers and publishers. As I have said, when the focus is on apps and services first, games second, it is easy to say that we are playing on service boxes. A phone plays games, but you won't see Apple focusing on gamers.
but it if plays decent games does it matter if there are services attached? Remember we are the minority in this gaming world, "casuals" make up the biggest portion of the market and if Sony does not appeal to them they could end up in a bad spot.
We're the majority of console gamers and industry revenue.
PS3and 360 sales combined destroy Wii sales and then there's also PC core gamers.
The casuals have already moved onto their phones, tablets, and facebook games which are often free not $50 and probably equally or more satisfying to them.
Sure it will play 3rd party games but seemingly at a lower graphical level and provides few exclusives and incidentally reasons for a core gamer not to get PS4...if the rumours are true. I'll wait to see what they're doing but they do seemed too focused on emulating Wii's success.

So True....
MS of late seems more focused on getting non-gamers to buy their 'game machine' for non-gaming purposes.
