The Wii U version of Watch Dogs, Ubisoft's exciting new property poised for a fall release, will be developed by the company's Bucharest branch.
I believe the PC/PS4/720 versions are all being developed by the main studio
Yep, it's funny how the other versions get primary care, but wii u version is only one being dumped on another one of their studios. I guess they thought Wii U was not worth their time (don't get mad at me, look at what happened with the Rayman exclusivity). Anyway, I guess this is remeniscent of when game companies would hire another company to make versions of their games on portables (usually calling on "Vicarious Visions" help for portables) since the main studio would rather focus on the main systems that they think their game will really sell well on.
Considering that Bucharest was the studio that developed ZombiU, I think Ubisoft is handing it off to them because they have more experience with Wii U implementation. This could very well lead to a better version than if it was developed by Montreal that never worked with the console other than the AC3 port. I'm fairly certain that all the versions will be amazing, It just relies on what you consider to be better.
I thought it was Ubisoft Montpellier that developed ZombiU. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me but I'm sure it was them not Bucharest.
Dark5tar1 oops. my bad, sorry. with so many different teams, it get terribly confusing. :( Still, another team working on it will still allow for a better version, due to it getting focused on and not just mass ported.
@EliteGameKnight You're half right. Bucharest did the Assassin's Creed 3 port so that team does have experience with the Wii U. Ubisoft has tons of teams, don't they? ^_^
WiiU version is being developed with the same care as ps4 both are getting ported from pc ? Stop looking for a fake reason to put ps4 in front of wiiu,ps4 is a tiny bit more powerful when you balance it all out.
According to the fine people at NeoGAF, Bucharest is doing the PS4 version as well. I don't know where they got that info though. Montreal is doing the PC version and the consoles get ports. The PS4 and 720 ports should turn out great since they are both based on PC architecture. I'm curious how the Wii U will turn out with it being all custom and supposedly not super easy to develop for.
Need for Speed on the Wii U runs pretty much on par with the PC version. Only difference is that the frame rate on the Wii U version is locked at 30fps, while the PC version can get much higher, but it uses all the textures and assests of the PC version with better draw distance and lighting over the PS360 ports. Watch Dogs on Wii U will turn out just fine. On another note, I cannot wait til E3 for Nintendo to silence all these idiotic haters.
proof about the Wii U version please. Have you not seen the NFS articles not seen the videos?
WiiUsauce I have to agree nfs mw looks amazing on the Wiiu and even though I have the psv version I think im going to pick the Wiiu version up. IM glad this game is coming to the Wiiu though as I now know I won't be getting a ps4 or next Xbox until later on next year but with already having a Wiiu im defo getting this game for it.
@Realplaya Are you asking me for proof about the Wii U version? That it's harder to develop for? To my understanding the PS4 and (supposedly) the 720 are both based on x86, a PC standard. I'm assuming the Wii U is harder to develop for by just looking at the launch games, though some devs said they were based on low powered dev kits and unfinished developer tools. The developer tools have greatly improved since then and of course the dev kits now have the correct specs, so that appears to no longer be an issue. Also Nintendo did some unique stuff with how the CPU handles memory. It's super low latency (that's good) and it looks like the latency is even lower than the PS4. Of course the PS4's memory bandwidth is MUCH higher (that's a good thing for the PS4). Basically it's very easy to get a ton of power out of the PS4 and to a slightly lesser extent the 720, if the rumored specs are true. The Wii U will take some finesse but you can bet Nintendo first party games will look amazing. I'm just worried third party devs won't take the time to optimize their games for the Wii U. Though Bucharest did the Assassin's Creed 3 port so they should be experienced with the Wii U. Honestly, I'm no expert. I'm just quoting what people have figured out on NeoGAF. As far as I know this is all accurate though.
Wiiu is based off pc architecture ??? get a grip ive seen tons of rumours that talk more about Kinect2 rather than Xbox8 here read these rumours. http://www.maxconsole.com/m... Scroll down a little and it has a big paragraph for each console.
I will wait to pass judgement when I see the final product. The fact the WiiU version is based off the PC version is a great start. http://gimmegimmegames.com/...
Makes sense there the same studio that did zombie u there comfortable with and are familiar the system. Nuff said.
This could actually be a good move for the WiiU. Ubi Bucharest made ZombiU, which while critically mixed had intricate gamepad features. They've had experience working with the gamepad, know how it works, and its capabilities. The game framework has already been confirmed (art direction, missions, core gameplay), we know it will run off PC tech (which is stronger than PS3 and 360), so what's left is incorporating the gamepad effectively (and other production).
While Ubi might be cutting some losses by splitting, they are putting Watch Dogs into the hands of a capable team (provided ZombiU devs are helping on Watch Dogs)
Oh just because not the main studio isnt doing the port for wiiU means it wont be good? lmao yall nuts
Well, just look at CoD declassified for the vita, a game that was being praised even before it was released and it ended up being horrible. I'm not saying the same will happen here but, i'll take the main studio over an outsourced one any day. Lets just hope these guys do a good job. ;)
I hope this Bucharest Ubi team learned a lot with there first Wii U game (Zombie U) because it wasn't very polished or technically impressive, it basically seemed rushed and low budget to me. The Wii U version of Watch Dogs has the potential to be the best overall version if the Gamepad controls are well thought out and the graphics are at least comparable to the other superior consoles, much unlike Zombie U which honestly looked like a 5 year old Xbox game at best.
i think it will look pretty good because wasnt it rumored that the new killzone gameplay on ps4 was running on 1.5 GB of RAM and the wiiu has 1GB so they might pull it off and pretty sure (im hoping) they do something nice with the controls
That was devkit RAM not retail WiiU devkits are 4GB then it gets compressed to 1GB.
According to Wikipedia, Ubisoft Romania (real name, it's the Bucharest branch) didn't develop Zombi U, that was Ubisoft Montpellier. And I have Zombi U, and I distinctly remember the Ubisoft Montpellier name in there, but Ubisoft Romania doesn't ring a bell at all. So, where did the guys in the article got that info that Ubi Romania had anything to do with Zombi U? http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
I believe you are correct and I hope you are because I was not impressed with Zombie U ^ stated above and I would be extremely dissapointed if the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is botched by an incapable team.
In that case, we'll have to agree to disagree, because I LOVED Zombi U, despite its flaws.
