PixlBit | A member of the PixlBit staff explains why he's leaving behind the console in favor of the PC this generation.
I'm happy with PC and console and will continue to support both... There is no reason to pick one over the other since both platforms offer very different experiences for gamers.
Some people just like playing a platform as opposed to the games on the platform. Good stuff can be found in all formats. Edit: On the other hand I get where the guy is coming from, because it seems like consoles are becoming more like PC's anyways. Seems like nothing can be simple anymore.
I'm happy with PC and will continue to support just that.
Both offer exclusive gaming experiences that you can't get anywhere else.
im also happy with pc
ive been playing console since nintendo up to ps3..after getting bored of console i moved to PC..the experence i get from pc is far greater..i tryed to go back to console..but could not stomach the low performance and low quality graphics PC FTW!
I'm happy with both consoles and PC's. They both give me different experiences, and a lot of exclusives to choose from. You get the best of both worlds!
Production values are better on console. Show me a story as rich as the Uncharted games on PC. Show me set pieces from God of War on PC. Multi-platform games are fun and all, but the real magic happens on exclusive games.
Ummmm.... Uncharted isn't really known for it's great story. It's a fun story sure, like an Indiana Jones film, and well presented and voice acted, but if we're talking about 'rich' or 'deep' storytelling Uncharted isn't a strong contender even among other console games. Then again, if Uncharted is your definition of masterful storytelling, and set pieces your measure of good gameplay, I guess the current trend consoles are taking is heaven for you.
I like the blockbuster style of Uncharted. I wish more games were presented this way. Most games I play, the story bores me to tears. I have a hard time caring for the characters in most other games and an even harder time caring for my own character. The Uncharted series (for me) actually made me want to keep playing, to find out what's going to happen. The story actually made me give a damn about what I was doing. Most action stories are like... start here... here's a gun.... shoot that guy. Now keep shooting guys until you make it to this door across the way. Enter the door and keep shooting guys until you reach the next area. Uncharted 2 and 3 did not feel like that for me. I felt like I was playing a really good movie, except I was in control of it. I loved playing through a building that was falling down, killing baddies on a moving train, escaping a burning building and jumping out of a plane. Those were jaw dropping moments that I just do not see in other games. I play a lot of games and nobody else does it like Naughty Dog. Max Payne 3 came pretty darn close though. That was a fun action game with some crazy set pieces, but some of it felt very... generic.
There are people who though Battleship was the greatest movie ever, to each his own I guess.
So I was playing Empire: Total War and there was this rather large army bearing down on one of my cities. My defense force was one turn away so basically the town was screwed. But as it happens, I had a grizzled old veteran group of about 250 line soldiers and grenadiers stationed in a town on the way to the city. The enemy of about 2000+ decided to make a detour. I had no general and just 2 units of soldiers against 2000. I thought for sure these guys were toast, but decided to give these guys a bloody nose anyway. Luck was on my side that day, for I had the best defensive position I had ever seen. Hill w/ walls in all the right places. What follow was a nearly 3 hr slug fest as wave after wave crashed into my pitiful line. Each time I thought it was over but then the enemy would retreat. This went on and on until I had no more than 20 line soldiers and like 5 grenadiers and finally the last group left the field. Moving just 2 units to cover the flanks was intense. You really think I give a damn about Uncharted or God of War? It may seem strange to some that people could like gaming on a PC, but there is a reason. That story I told was MINE, not anyone else's. I'll take that over QTEs any day.
I'm sorry, but your story was pretty boring to me.
That's the point. It wasn't your's it was mine. Uncharted is the same for everyone. More to the point, Uncharted is not the only game ever made.
Don't listen to him. I thought your story was plenty badass.
Sony’s reveal of the PlayStation 4 was very gamer centric – but not the way that I wanted it to be. Executives in expensive suits trotted out a bevy of developers who gushed over the architecture and the 8 gigs of unified RAM. Isn't that what every Pc only gamer brags about the graphics??
The games The exclusives for PC outnumber the consoles by far. I am struggling to keep up with all the new releases of games I am interested in while also having to buy all of the good PS3 exclusives (I bought the console on monday). Some games that should catch your attention. Natural Selection 2 (for people who want a good aliens experience. This game is awesome) Chivalry (Fun medieval combat and dismemberment) Arma 3 (If you like shooters you owe it to yourself) Day Z Mount and Blade 2 (Mount and Blade is my favourite sandbox game of all time) Civ 5 Starcraft 2 HOTS Company of Heroes 2
