One Year Later… With The PlayStation Vita

One Hit Pixel: "February 22, 2012. The difficult second handheld console for relative newcomers to the handheld scene was released in Europe. The PlayStation Vita, whose second name translates in English from its Italian/Latin origins as “Life”, was hoped to captivate the handheld market. Featuring a reasonably strong launch line-up with recognisable franchises such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and WipEout 2048, along with its impressive specs, it seemed like nothing could stop it from being a success. We gave our thoughts on the handheld a month after launch and they were extremely positive. Unfortunately for Sony, the successor to the PlayStation Portable has had a pretty rough year. One thing said in article was off to me...the 'ac:liberation didnt do so well' comment. Selling over 600, 000 is in fact more than well for a handheld with a 3mil user base. Also after one year over 100 games are available to play. And this year is looking better...other than that oj article.

I've been loving my Vita since I got it but I have to admit, it just struck me yesterday how I've bought very few actual Vita titles for it. This is partly thanks to the ridiculously good value ps plus giving me Uncharted, Gravity rush, Mortal Kombat, Wipeout and more for free (okay, for no extra charge, Mr. pedantic) but a lot of it is due to working my way through the PSP games I missed out on through not owning the PSP and especially playing through old PS1 classics. In fact at this point I should just redub the thing 'my Final fantasy and Silent hill machine'. The small screen is perfect for ps1 games, you hardly even notice the rough ages you would on a modern TV.

I have 19 games for my PS Vita!
Having fun with all those games. Played more on Vita than my Xbox 360 the 2 last years, and Vita have just been out 1 year.

Vita have my blessing for giving me great games, and more are coming with Soul Sacrifice, Tearaway and Killzone Mercenary!
