Ode To: Super Smash Bros Brawl

Its the perfect night. Four people, a 55 inch television, and all the 7th generation home consoles with a massive library to choose from. This situation usually occurs multiple times within a month for my friends and myself, and usually we play all of the current multiplayer titles. (Super Smash Bros., Wii, Wii U)

A top ten game for the Wii for sure. I hope the WiiU version builds upon this game, as the content was massive and gameplay, excellent.

Too bad they took a great competitive fighter in Melee, and instead of further building on it, turned it into a party game for the Wii: every perfect combat system Smash had been building was cut by the game's asshole producer at the last second in favor of an unbalanced, laggy, noncompetitive, no comboing, no L-canceling, no hitstun, mess.

I hope they unruin things on the WiiU by going back to to their roots: GAMEPLAY

I have zero confidence at this point.

I feel you're looking into it too much.

Look, I understand people like party games. Melee was a party game...sort of. To people that never got the depth Melee presented it was still widely loved.

But the sequel could have had all the things that made Smash great to the big group that plays it competitively. It was instead gutted. A lot of people hate Brawl for that.

Well I don't get why you need all those things. I haven't played Melee in a long time so I don't even remember what some of those things are. What's comboing (I've never played any other fighting games)? What's L-canceling? What's hitstun?

If you have some time watch this:

I havent played in a long time either. I have some great memories. Brawl cant do anything like this video. Just the speed...

I watched a bit and the only difference I see is that Melee is WAY faster than Brawl. Don't bother explaining it to me anymore. I'll just play Melee again and see if I can figure it out myself.
