Majora’s Mask’s moon originally had no face

One of the most notable icons of Majora’s Mask is the moon. Whether you are playing, watching someone else play, looking at pictures, or simply talking about the game someone always mentions the moon. How could you not? It is one of the central focuses of the game. Whenever you look in the sky it is staring down at you while it gets closer and closer to Termina as the days pass by. The face on the moon adds a sense of urgency to the quest. (Retro, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask)

The face makes it much more creepy.

I found the game to be a huge disappointment following up "Ocarina of Time"

It was ambitious, but ultimately a let down, not what I wanted as a follow up game to one of the best games I had ever played up to that point.

I want to agree and disagree. We should be able to vote twice.

I thought it was a major step up from Ocarina, tbh. More interesting story, more ambitious, more characterization, better side-quests, etc.

I couldn't stand the game re-starting if you didn't do what needed to be done in time. At least from what I remember it did something like that, been so long since I've played it now.

IF there would have been more Towns it would have been better.

I'm genuinely surprised that so many comments at the source are saying they'd prefer it WITHOUT the face.

IMO the face made it far more creepier (not to mention, iconic). It was like the moon was watching your every move...as well as every other person in Termina. It wasn't just strange...it was downright eerie.

Whoever thought that up needs to be thanked for the nightmare fuel.

And by "thanked" I mean by way of ducktape, a van, a shovel, and a one-way trip deep, deep in the woods.

Much better with a face.

Yeah like others have said, I can't imagine it without a face. Without it it would've just been a natural disaster. The face makes it feel supernatural/fantastic which fits perfectly in Zelda. It's also much more menacing and creates a greater sense of urgency. Brilliant!

Why does that sound even creepier to me? The moon without a face doesn't seem normal. I guess it's too iconic!

Of coarse the moon is better with a face. It was made much more memorable that way.
