Urban Trial Freestyle Review | The Vita Lounge

For a long time now, a certain X-Box exclusive has been the only game I have ever envied Microsoft keeping a tight grip on. I don’t care for Halo, Mass Effect is multi-platform now and Alan Wake never lived up to the hype that surrounded it, but Trials has always been a game I have longed for. Showered with compliments for it’s superb visuals, unrivaled accuracy of control and crazy courses, Trials has made a name for itself as the best in the business when it comes to 2D motorbike games. Many have attempted to emulate it’s success in the mobile phone arena, as clone after clone have been released onto iOS and android, but few have ever come near to (and none has surpassed) the commercial success and extremely high bar that RedLynx set. (PS Vita, Urban Trial Freestyle) 8/10

Sorry, I know this game has it's flaws but the bike upgrades are very important for actually fully completing the game. I had thought the same but once I had to get 5 stars and collect all cash bags in secret spots, you definitely need to experiment with upgrades or else you won't be getting 5 stars on all maps or be able to get into difficult to reach places.

At times I had to try several different setups just to surpass scores in stunts, collecting cash bags and just increasing your time to finish races.

There is a big difference also, I can notice them greatly especially when you max out the speed and acceleration and sometimes you need bikes that have extreme handling otherwise you can't get into secret areas.

My only gripe with this game is mainly the challenges, just not enough of them some more maps would be nice but that can come with DLC and the fact they didn't mention a key difference between the PS3 version, they made it seem like it was just shortened maps and detail but they also took out the ability to do tricks, which can be done in the PS3 version, when you do jump stunts your rider in the PS3 version will automatically perform tricks..

I was really sad to find out that the PS Vita version has no trick animations at all or that it was never mentioned. I had assumed you could do them in both version as they never mentioned that missing from the PS Vita version or even talk about the fact you can do tricks at all.

Still it may be jaggie but I think the detail is pretty good, especially the entire enviorment is actually awesome, it looks so detailed like you could ride through the entire city or something.

If they make a second one I think that would be wicked if this game was an open world game but still having the exact same concept. Or possibly instead of having one direction to ride, they could instead of making it open world add turns that take you into different parts of the city through your trials.

Be nice if you could change directions in this game also but I guess that takes away from the challenge.
