Battlefield 4: 10 Ways It Can Topple Call Of Duty

WC: Battlefield is certainly capable of toppling Call of Duty, especially given the new playing field that a next-generation canvas will provide, but there are a number of key facets EA will have to remember if they want to gain a stronger foothold on their biggest competition.

It's already more than capable of 'toppling Call of Duty' however it will not outsell COD because that fanbase doesn't like change.

Yeah it probably won't outsell it. One thing COD has that I wish Battlefield would (or could) do is split screen co-op. Call me old school but I wish games like Killzone and Battlefield would go back to that as an option.

I know it may not be possible due to the level of detail but maybe with next gen...

I agree. How about either taking the sp serious or dropping it and offering 2x the multiplayer content cod does. U can always offer 2 different multiplayer modes, ine strategic and one thats fast an twitchy lol.

Seriously, bring back bad company's sp type, or go really big with multiplayer. There must be some way to incorporate both. Here is a GREAT idea! Have a campaign that is more open, allows for upgrades etc. Make it big and bad and make the mp an extension. Maybe its the future and we use avatars to fight wars while we are safe. U have an sp but at the end all hell breaks lose all over the world. its ur job to use an avatar and jump in the fight. There are two stories in sp, two sides that u can sympathize with and two entirely different leveling trees. When u play mp, its random but when u play as one side u are leveling that guy, and vice versa. Add in mass effect type events that dictate more story. Use dlc to further story. The final mp dlc will also be an ending to the sp that u started 100's of hours ago. That would be an evolution.

I think if at any time, now would be the opportunity for the BF series to outshine CoD. The PS4's graphical capabilities, along with the jump in data crunching could make the next BF game spectacular. Hopefully they add more peole per game, and have the prerequisite jump in graphical fidelity. The scale of BF games always made them a bit less detailed than the more enclosed CoD games, and the action in CoD is more constant due to the smaller maps.

I really don't mind the slower pace of BF, IMO it seems more open to strategy and communication toward the execution of a plan among players.

I for one LOVE the BF series and will never go back to CoD, barring some major changes to the formula. The open, tactical gameplay of BF really appeals to me. I can't wait to see what comes next. Can't wait for End Game, fun times ahead.

I am sure it can, it has the clear potential to do it but because of that "hype" for COD games, it will not do well sales wise.

Bad Company 3 needs 4 player coop. I mean, you have 4 protagonists who always stay together. It only makes sense. :D

Battlefield 4 *For PS4* should just make what was already great about it, and amplify it by adding a SURVIVAL MODE with DINOSAURS!! Forget Zombies!

Why should bf worry so much about toppling cod. They're both great franchises that appeal to their fanbase. Some players like bf and some players like cod. That's just the way it is. I play bf when I want a slower pace tactical game. I play cod when I want nerve wracking intensity. Imo the best blend of those 2 styles of play is rainbow 6. I dread the day one shooter is king of them all. I'd much rather have variety. Without it the shooter genre will stagnate into irrelevance. Look no further than madden to see what I mean
