PS4 and how it changes blockbuster game development

EDGE talks with Assassin’s Creed III’s creative director Alex Hutchinson for his first impressions. (PS4)

It's a really cool thing that developers seem to be rather enthusiastic about working on the PS4. They'll have a bigger room for creativity since they won't have to struggle with the hardware as much as they did in the early days of the PS3.

Yea, you can tell that with all of these developers praising the PS4, it has the ability to win it all

Yeah, Sony made very wise engineering decisions (to paraphrase John Carmack). This bodes very well for the PS4.

sssshhhh! man-kids alert!

but yeah Sony is trying its best to make gaming very easy and accessible for gamers, non-gamers and game developers and publishers.
That is good leadership.

I think they just know not to skimp out on what really counts this time (RAM)... Also they found out from devs what to do to make it easy & efficient to dev for.. Thats how MS got em this gen & now they know.. Which is good cuz if it werent for MS, they would still be cocky & arrogant about their products.. Now we will get fantastic games graphical wise, playability wise, network wise, etc..

The dual shock 4 is absolutely PERFECT.. Its built for core gamers fixing what plagued the original DS', the mini touch pad for new gameplay mechanics & or kids who want that angry birds type feel, & the move led for motion tracking.. Plus u can use the move wands for whoever likes the motion gaming play style.. Oh & they have a much improved PS 4 eye for social networking as well as whatever else it does for games..

PS4 is a great console for ALL gamer types.. want dual screen play? Go get a vita, pull out your phone/tablet & set it up for your maps, stats, inventory, etc.. Its a great all around system.. Im wondering if MS is going to rely on kinect 2.0 w illumiroom or come out with something nobody saw coming.. We shall see soon enough but whatever they do, it better be great if they wanna top sonys powerful features, value, & exclusives..

"If we can assume all of these features as shipping in the box, which they are, then we can exploit them and build experiences around them"

Cross your fingers. No more excuses for developers.

Also note how the guy from Ubisoft admits that these consoles should be easier to develop for and therefore cheaper while EA is claiming they will be more expensive in the beginning. EA and Activision are going to use pretty pictures to raise the price of games.
