What makes you think I pay for XBL so that I can play online?

I pay for XBL because I like all the features it has to offer me vs. what the competition offers me for free.

Being able to play online with my XBL gold membership is just a free bonus.

You're a minority on that one bro. If it wasn't for the superior multiplayer features (including multiplayer) I would not pay for xbox live. Entertainment features be damned.
matrixman92  +   801d ago
i will gladly pay for the subscription for party chat and cross game chat
stage88  +   800d ago
Wait, so you like paying to access the other stuff like Netflix? Whaaa?
Gamer-Z  +   800d ago
The only thing live offers is more chat options and the ability to play your games online that's it everything else you can do for free on any other devise or console.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let me get this straight. You pay for XBL to use Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube? Wow.

"Being able to play online with my XBL gold membership is just a free bonus"

Wow. You have to pay MS to play the multi player portion of your games and you spin it as "just a free bonus"? Wow, just.....wow
dantesparda  +   799d ago
Paying to play online and unlock the other half of your game, what a pack of suckers!

I dont care if its 3 cents a month, it should be free, its a ripoff, PERIOD!!! and you stupid chumps are paying for it

Mottsy  +   800d ago
Amen Jesus! Ya seems alot of people are very concerned about what other people do with their own hard earned money. To each his/her own gals and fellas. Its been years since xbox has been charging for this service. If the consumers still want to pay for it then get over it, has little to no affect on you.

$35 bucks is like 3 bucks a month, it is not a big deal as all it takes is one less beer or one less Starbuck coffe per month and you will be OK. It is not like you have to reserve to Ramen Noodle and tap water to play on Live.
PeaSFor  +   800d ago
i could also take a dump on your head for 2$ per months, its cheap so if we follow your logic you have no reason to be against it eh?

Jek_Porkins  +   801d ago
$35 is just outrageous, oh whatever shall we do?!?
I've never paid more than $35 for a year of Xbox Live, wish I could get these types of deal with my phone service or cable provider...lol

I think people are just mad that gamers actually enjoy a service like Xbox Live enough to keep paying for it, it actually increased by 15% this year, which is huge. Too bad I already bought two of these cards earlier in the year when they were only $29.99, but they only let you enter one at a time.....

No, I'm mad that I pay for my fucking internet and cable bill so I can access the internet and then I have to pay more so I can play a game I already payed for online when I already pay for online and cable! Most children who don't pay their own bills and only pay for Live and games won't understand this concept unfortunately.
Jek_Porkins  +   799d ago
I'm not a child, I pay the bill just like all my other bills. I mean I have a $5 a month checking account fee that is more than my Xbox Live bill per month.

Also, I can get television for free, but I choose to pay for premium services. It'd be like complaining about paying extra for HBO when you already pay for normal cable. Premium is premium and if you don't like it, don't buy it, there are alternatives.

Paying to use their internet and they think its a good deal, all those saying it's for cross game chat wake up everyone else including microsoft know if they gave free internet access (as it should be) subscriptions would take a huge hit, M$ has them by the balls and they defend it, mugs the lot of them.

I pay my electric & Cable bill to us my internet XBL, Netflix ,Hulu ,amazon prime, Crackle & all other Apps ,features are entertainment offerings which I have no problems paying for. One more thing no one has me by anything, what irks me are those entitleitis.
amiga-man  +   800d ago
I too pay my electric etc Witwicky and as you point out we both pay our internet provider for our internet access, so why are you paying microsoft exactly for your internet?
Netflix you pay for but again to access it you have to pay M$ who are not your internet provider (cable seems to be yours) if you want to pay for things like netflix etc fine but why exactly do microsoft take your internet away and expect you to pay to get it back and why do you accept it?
DarthJay  +   800d ago
Why do Playstation/non-Xbox owners care? Why does it even matter? Any time something like this gets posted, like clockwork, many of you come out in droves and act like jackoffs over something that has no effect on you whatsoever.

There isn't a single Xbox owner that says to themselves "I'd love to know what Playstation owners think." Your opinion is irrelevant. Either jump on the deal or GTFO.
zealot_x  +   800d ago
Because this is how trends start. If gamers pay for something that should be free and say that "it's not a big deal" then who tells me that Sony or Ninty won't follow suit? It's free money fro them.
It's like the DLC or the online pass situation. Some gamers think it's a good deal, so by supporting it they brought us the day one DLC and the on disc DLC...
Think guys, vote with your wallets. In some years time we will be paying for demos and some people are going to say "it's not a big deal"...
DarthJay  +   800d ago
You can give away online play for free on PS3 but I'd rather pay to play on Xbox Live. That is voting with my wallet. My Playstation 3 has had over a year to convince me I didn't need to pay for Xbox Live and it hasn't.

I could go on and on about it, but it's irrelevant, because there isn't a single thing you or anyone else could say that is going to change the way I feel. So get over it and go have fun with whatever you find your own enjoyment in.
amiga-man  +   800d ago
I'll tell you why I care, it is the thin end of the wedge, allowing microsoft to take away your internet and forcing you to pay to get it back sets a very poor precedent for gamers there was already talk of maybe Sony following suit for the PS4 thankfully that was all it was talk but xbox owners have opened up the possibility for other factions of the gaming world EA for example to start charging for something that should be free, I'm sorry but xbox owners have done gaming no favours by accepting the M$ scam.

#1 reason why I never bought an Xbox....and I'm sure that a large percentage of Xbox users that defend their yearly M$ fleecing have never tried PSN.
bluetoto  +   799d ago
lol, why do xbox-only owners care that everyone else thinks they're slow witted? Like clockwork anytime something like this gets posted, many of you come out in droves defending your right to be smallminded over strangers you don't even know.

There isn't a single multi console owner who says to themselves " I'd love to be able to pay for what others are getting for free!"

Either wake the f up or stop gaming.
DarthJay  +   799d ago
Irony abound! Like clockwork, the PS fangirls rush in to act like they are the saviors of gaming. Hey, guess what, I have both consoles and a PC that puts the PS4 to shame. You know what? I like Xbox the most out of all of them.

Deal with it.

PS - Enjoy the changes to the PS Network on the PS4.
PirateThom  +   799d ago

If Microsoft can get away with it, Sony and Nintendo are thinking "hmm, maybe we can do it as well".

I just refuse. especially in this day and age where most games have a hefty online component, to be held to ransom over the content of the disc.

People complained about online passes for used games on PS3, yet the 360 has an online pass for every single game, new or used, and people lap it up and think features like cross game chat or Netflix warrant it or try to justify it with statements like "it's only x per month" or "I never pay full price for ir anyway" as it that makes it better.

It's disgusting to make people pay to:

1. Access content they already paid for.
2. Have access to their own internet
3. Charge for p2p connects.

If you can't see why this is wrong or why others are concerned and have an opinion, then Microsoft have wonderfully managed to blind you. The fact is, when they tried to charge PC owners for the same service, PC gamers just refused to pay it and Microsoft were forced to make it free, because there were alternatives, on 360? You play by their terms and, until people take a stand, they'll continue to charge.

lol, sure you do, it's easy to have a fav when you only have one to choose from. again, why do you care that most think you're a fool?

I just like making fun of the dimwitted, it makes me smile lol. I know, I know, I should seek help, but laughing at you guys always makes me feel better about my sorry life! Thanks for the laffs!

How do you look at yourself in the mirror? You must laugh a lot. I have a ridiculous PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 and soon I'll have a PS4 and the new Xbox. If I get bored tomorrow or a month from now or hell, any day I feel like it, I may even buy a Wii U because it's pretty awesome to be in a position to do stuff like that. I'm sorry that you feel you have a sorry life, but that doesn't change the fact that I have almost every gaming possibility possible and have fun with whichever one I want to and you cry about it on what equates to a message board.

Do you even read the words you said? Easy to have favs when you only have one to choose from? Did I paint a clearer picture for you now? I pay for Playstation Plus too. Maybe I'm just a real gamer and you're just a fanboy? Not maybe, definitely.

Your post wreaks of insecurity. That's the exact reason you have to keep adding "lol" to everything you say. I smile knowing you clearly only own a PS3 and are limited to whatever it allows you to do knowing I can play pretty much any game I want to at any time because I want to.

And I still prefer doing it on my Xbox.

C'mon laddy, STOP IT! Look I'm sorry I offended you. I forget my manners sometimes. Spend as you please, you'll wise up one day as we all do.

Didn't the Wii U just come out and PS4 is basically coming out in 2014? Why pay for Live when you can save that money to go towards purchasing a PS4.
