Sony's Greatest Revolution: The Share Button

The PlayStation event exposed how Sony is planning to lead the way into the next generation. But more impressive than their hardware and new IPs is their revolutionary idea of social integration. (PS4)

The share button is a godsend for me. It is such an amazing feature and for it to be incorporated into the controller itself, it really blows my mind.

I bought a HD PVR and whilst it's an impressive bit of kit, it isn't without its headaches. I think I'm going to put it up for sale because the PS4 is making recording and sharing effortless.

Kudos to Sony. They really were listening intently to us core gamers. Many on here have been intolerant of my views simply because I was critical of the PS3 in many regards but in my opinion, many Sony followers on here just struggled to be neutral. They defended the CELL, lack of social functionality and things like mandatory installs so vehemently and with such religious-like fervour. But look at the PS4 now and it is tackling those exact issues and more. I had no agenda contrary to what many here think. The PS4 looks like it will be by gaming machine of choice. Respect to Sony for restoring my faith in them.

Sorry for the mini rant.

I downplayed the usefulness of a share button but the first time Sony showed it in use, my mind started racing with possibilities.

The Social connectivity of PS4 really took me by surprise, im very interested to see what Microsoft has planned as XBL was the social network on consoles this gen

I got chewed out on here for saying Playstation 4 needs to be more social then the ps3. I hope more social experiences will be announced at a later date. Bring gamers together.

This is my favorite feature that we've seen so far, I can finally record gameplay without having to buy a capture card

What a novel idea, the competition is shure to match it with a "renew your subscription" button on their controller!

I love the new "Standby" mode also.

Able to just pause the game, put it into standby, goto work, and come home, and instantly start playing again, no boot, no load screen!

That is awesome.

The share button is a revolution. Now I can share the best and funniest moments in any game to all my friends easily. I am definitely going to use this feature a lot. I love how the PS4 is an extremely powerful machine and is also socially integrated. Let's just hope the price is good too.

this is a great tool that is introduced at the right time where most of all the gaming community is on the internet via Twitch, Ustream, and other streaming websites out there and i will defiantly be using this tool cause i have never done sharing before i have been a quiet gamer but with this tool i can do more. thank you Sony for this innovative tool.

OnLive has a record button. Press it and it records your gameplay and automatically uploads it onto Facebook. You can turn the automatic upload off if you want to though. I'm glad Sony is taking cues from OnLive as I have quite enjoyed using this feature over the past few years. My "Brag Clip" space is completely filled up! Actually they seem to have taken many cues from OnLive (spectating, gameplay commenting, try-before-you-buy, cloud gaming). I guess OnLive really was quite the innovator!
