The gaming industry is slowly turning to the trend of releasing free-to-play games rather than subscription-based ones. But is this really the best thing for gamers?
(Industry, PC)
Go play Planetside 2, Dragon Nest, Vindictus, Firefall, Tribes:Ascend, Blacklight:Retribution, Team Fortress 2, Arma 2 X, and about 200 MMO's of all Gaming genres and you tell me!
F2P is Great, I get to sample a game and if it Blows I wasted No money but if it's Great like Firefall or Planetside 2 then Bam out comes the Credit Card to buy customizations or upgrade faster.
Sure F2p doesn't work with ever game or model as that needs to be addressed before Development but when F2P is there from day 1 it works!
While yes you still have games with Subscriptions models but they better provide an overwhelming amount of content and services like World of Warcraft!
and then you have the buy once and play for ever model like Guild Wars 2 which very cool as $60 bucks gets you 300 hours of playing time and the Devs are still cranking out new content!
