As we get closer to Microsoft revealing its next-generation Xbox console, there will be a lot more talk about the name. Over the years, people have been suggesting possible names like the Xbox 720, Xbox Infinity, Xbox 8, Xbox Next, and the list goes on and on. Given all the information already known about the next-gen console, here’s another name to throw into the ring: Xbox Gold. Now before you say to yourself, “No way it will be called this”, this speculation isn’t entirely from left field, as Microsoft has left a new trail of domain bread crumbs recently involving the name “Xbox Gold”.
Update "Xbox Gold & Entertainment" is mentioned in this internal Microsoft event agenda that was leaked. It does have a "services" ring to it... http://www.gamechup.com/int...

That's not a photo of Goldmember at all. :(
its like buying a lamp then buying a lightbulb and being told you can't use it unless you pay a subscription fee.complete nonsense.
Xbox= Lamp
Game= Lightbulb
internet connect= electricity
Xbox live subscription = ???
i knew someone would mention the electricity bill should have made it more clear but my point still stands you don't get anything you haven't already paid for with xbox live maybe a few extra services here and there but you certainly shouldn't be forced to pay it just to play online. i don't mean to upset anyone but thats the reality of it
The Xbox Live subscription is a special outlet with a separate electricity bill doing the exact same thing as the original outlet. So the device is powered by two outlets doing the same thing, lol.
Xbox= Lamp
Game= Lightbulb
internet connect= electricity
Xbox live subscription = Government taxes!
I.e. the government puts in the infrastructure to deliver said electricity. MS provided the infrastructure for you to enjoy the games online. Get it?
"you haven't already paid for with xbox live maybe a few extra services here and there but you certainly shouldn't be forced to pay it just to play online."
Nope, you paid for access to their platform that makes certain features available, such as cross game chat, party system, maintenaince and so on. You are NOT forced to do anything, you are free to purchase the system which clearly spells out there are additional fees.
"i don't mean to upset anyone but thats the reality of it"
You aren't upsetting anyone, because everyone else knows this and willingly participate or they moved to another system.
It is generally fanboys that complain, because there are alternatives abound.
If you want to pay for cross game chat thats up to you M$ at least provide that but to take away your internet and expect you to pay to get it back is the biggest scam this gen and is only done because M$ know free online would mean a huge drop in subsciptions.
Blackdeath is making perfect sense its the fanboys with their fingers in their ears that refuse to see it.
~And now, what you have all been waiting for.........the Xbox GOLD~
*shows black console*
Personally I think Xbox Infinity has the best ring to it.
Lol.
everything else just sounds like a service, including xbox infinity
8= 2 circles
8= The OS
8= 2xs 4 (ps4 :p)
8-cores
8= GB ram
Theres already more reasoning here then there is behind the name xbox 360
LOL kidding.
The most important two letters in this site...
but what's wrong with X720?
Something to do with XBL. MS wants to bring original content to Xbox Live. They're probably revamping the Xbox Live service. I see the Sony militia is out in full force!
With an "8" sort of sounds like it's upping the PS4 x2.
Still think though Microsoft is going to tag their next XBox with a numerical name instead of a word.
