A Retrospective of Star Wars Games

4Player-"With the upcoming release of Star Wars 1313, it came to my attention that we haven't really seen a good Star Wars game in a while. We saw more iterations of Lego Star Wars and the travesty that was Star Wars Kinect, but where did the Jedi Academy, Kotor, and Republic Commando style games disappear to? More importantly, what does it mean for the future of Star Wars games? I'm not going to go through and talk about every damn Star Wars game that's come out, but a look back on this past decade will still serve the same purpose. I should also note that this certainly isn't even all of the Star Wars game that came out in the past decade, just the major releases for the most part. So, without further ado, let's travel back in time for a spell." (PC, PS2, PS3, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Republic Commando, Xbox, Xbox 360)

Can't wait to play 1313! There have been so many good Star Wars games I really hope they make another Knights of the Old Republic and Force Unleashed

Oh I liked Star Wars Bounty Hunter, hunting people down getting bounties, very cool stuff

Would love to see an HD update of the SNES super star wars games. They were great

Last gen had some awesome Star Wars.

Battlefronts, Republic Commando, Knights of the Old Republics, Bounty Hunter and Rogue Squadron.

Shame this gen has been poor for SW games.

We'll have to see the direction Disney takes with the lore. Whether they go with the classic tone or the prequel tone.

The haphazard use of the Star Wars license led to a plethora of crap Star Wars games. If not for that license LucasArts would have folded years ago.

As far as 1313 goes I can't see how anyone could be excited about it. Interested? Sure, it was interesting. But that was crafted demo showing what they hope to do, not really anything that had been done.

LucasArts has a ways to before they can convince me of their skills as a developer. But maybe, now that the human-curse George Lucas won't be around to further wreck the license with his horrible skills as a filmmaker, Star Wars can be revived.

Well, the people who are already excited for 1313 are probably just those happy to see a Star Wars game that takes itself seriously and has a Bounty Hunter as the protagonist. Like I said in the article, I'm looking forward to it, but mostly because it could mean quality Star Wars games get released again.

Well, there is next to nothing known about it, aside from it being a Star Wars game. We heard a lot about what they want to do, which really doesn't mean much.

Then there is the sale to Disney and what it means for a game(1313) scheduled for release around the same time as the new movies. It certainly isn't too late for them to throw in a lightsaber for old times sake.

Like I said, is it interesting, sure. But gone are the days that I take dev hype as gospel, especially from mediocre devs like LucasArts.

Next generation wishlist

Battlefront 3
Republic Commando 2
Knights of the Old Republic 3
Another Rogue Squadron game.

Why can't LucasArts just listen to the fans? These are the games we want. We don't want crappy clone wars or kinect Star Wars games.
