Sony will in no way forget about the PlayStation 3, despite the fact its successor the PS4 will launch later this year, Sony Computer Entertainment UK MD Fergal Gara has told VideoGamer.com.
"I suppose it's my biggest challenge this year but a great problem to have, which is in no way should we or will we say forget about PS3 because PS4 is coming," said Gara.
Apparently, not even PSN games will be compatible, so those of us with hundreds of dollars tied up to digital content will be severely disincentivized from buying into PS4.
instead if you want to play ps1 games you need ps1,ps2,ps3 consoles to play those games thats crazy.
Well I imagine the PS3 will get a price cut shortly after the PS4 is released, so if they don't decide to incorporate BC it shouldn't be a problem.
ps3 what? oh sorry forgot about it for a sec.
The question is, how many PS3 games can they get on Gaikai when Gaikai launches?
Im ready PS4!!!!
I still pop in a PS1 game or two once a month or so. I do the same for my PS2 games. And when I have a PS4, I'll STILL play my PS3 games.
Can't really figure out this mentality of some gamers that old games are suddenly worthless as soon as the next gen comes out. Hell, these days, people finish a game in a week, call it great, but never play it again. I don't get it.
Its a hardware company, they know what they're doing.....
Another reason I support Sony is their commitment to supporting their game consoles for the long term.
Sony just recently stopped supporting the PS2 and it did not feature online apps like Netflix wich the PS3 is the number 1 device for netflix.
The PS3 will be around for a long time.
And about Vita, it's kinda funny, but the PS4 event actually made me want to get a Vita more than any Vita event or the last two E3 press conferences. I hope they'll make a PS4/Vita 'premium' bundle. I'd get it and I'm sure they will do one.
Good, I have a crappy Westinghouse blu ray player I'm dying to throw away lol.
Plus have you played indie/downloadable games like The Cave , Limbo, Tales of Monkey Island, Sam and Max and PS exclusives like Papa & Yo, The Unfinished Swan & Datura?
It was one of the joys of the PS2 that it continued to have games on it in 2007 making the PS3's line up look a bit less interesting. Unfortunately it wasn't such a good advert for the PS3. Maybe they need to start doing dual releases like Nintendo and Micorosft have done where some games gets a release on both the PS3 and PS4 until the PS4 has sufficient buyers.
