PS4 hardware design not finalized - Sony

Sony president of Worldwide Studios apologizes for not showing hardware last night during reveal.

"I'm sorry we did not show the hardware," Yoshida said. "But we have plans from now--in February--through the year for the launch. We like to disclose things based on what we think we really want to communicate first. And next time we will talk about these things."

If Sony had shown off a PS4 unit last night, it would not have been representative of the final design. Yoshida was asked, "Is the final hardware finished?" To which he bluntly responded, "No, it's not."

You see guys, it's just not finished, stop complaining about everything!

jujubee881254d ago

Wait, I will answer that: idiots.

I'm really excited about PS4, with that amount of fast ram it will make everything so smooth, be able to download/upload, switch between games and all seamlessly.

I'm thinking Sony wants to see what Microsoft is gonna come up with to do some adjustments, so I hope Microsoft try to push the limits :-)

Exciting times my friends! :-D

Sony is making the best even better.

@Bathyj

Its their loss

UnholyLight1254d ago

I like how blunt the guy was, no run around. Good chap, guess we all kinda knew anyways

nukeitall1253d ago

Of the Sony staff, I really like Yoshida. He always comes off as honest, willing and attempting to address your real question.

UnholyLight1253d ago

Hey, dont forget Kaz! Love that guy.

j-blaze1253d ago

then most likely won't release this year

Raider691254d ago (Edited 1254d ago )

What this means is that actually M$ can be in the same situation and still revamp the specs of the next xbox also. The show didnt end yet for neither.Fight power with power seems in order until we actually see a full build from the two.

jukins1254d ago

you know this article is talking about the look of the console not the specs right? at this stage in the game hardware specs are pretty much final as possible given a launch later this year.

Riderz13371254d ago (Edited 1254d ago )

People care more about the look of the console rather than what it has to offer...Come on guys just grow up. They didn't show the console, so what? Did it get you hyped for the PS4 or at least for next gen? I'm sure it did get you hyped, if you say no then you are in denial.

They can't give out all their cards on one event. You guys are forgetting GDC is slowly approaching and then we also have E3. They have to save some stuff.

Be happy that we get a console reveal in FEBRUARY!

Seraphim1253d ago

I was definitely disappointed that we didn't get to see it. But at the end of the day do we really care what it looks like. It's not a car or clothes. It's a gaming console that we will either buy or not buy but it isn't something we will not buy just because we don't like how it looks. DVD player, Blu Ray player, AV Receiver, do we overlook the ones we dislike based off looks? No we buy the ones that are cheapest, have the best specs, have the features/functions we're looking for, etc. Really at the end of the day they could release a plastic box and slap PS4 on it and as long as the components are inside do we really care? Probably not. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see what the final build looks like but the fact of the matter is regardless of how it looks we will be buying one.

joab7771254d ago

Of course not. What do you have to gain by showing off the ps4 before E3, tgs, or microsofts reveal. What matters anyway are the specs, and software. Is what it looks like even matter right now?
