FACT #888 "Sony and Microsoft got awesome exclusives, but they lack evolutionary drive. They are like cyborgs; a robotic race that can imitate but not innovate".
Straight up, Sony has copied Nintendo. However, they've improved on Nintendo's core design. It's something every business does. Look at phones, TV's, etc... When one company innovates the others soon follow.
If you ran a business why would you give your competition an advantage over you?
You wouldn't you would do what they did, but make it better and your own.
Same story here.
Same story with MS and Kinect "stealing" Eye Toy.
And if you want to get technical Nintendo's entire Wii U is based off Sony's Remote Play technology. Since the PS3 Sony has been all about trying to make your devices connect. PS3 and PSP were the first step. Then the Wii U comes and is basically founded on that same principle.
Nintendo tried it before with Controller Packs on N64'a Pokemon, but even then Sony's entire business strategy has been having all of their products interact with one another for decades.
There's nothing wrong with either side doing it, especially if they do it better.
no offense man, but sony's playstation 1 was gamechanger. Also nintendo has been rehashing and remaking mario, zelda, and pokemon for decades...just same game, new levels.
There's also Blu-ray. They also developed the Move in 2001 for PS2. The eyetoy came out alone in 2002. Sony also had remoteplay on the PSP 7 years ago.
And ins't nintendo just copying sony and microsoft by going into hd with their "new" console
"nintendo has been rehashing and remaking mario, zelda"
Mario 64 is nothing like Mario Galaxy and Majora's Mask is nothing like Skyward Sword. I'm going to go off on a limb and assume you have not played any of the games I just listed.
Also how is "going HD" a form of copying? Honestly, I'd really like an answer to that.
there examples of nintendo innovating, but those examples you listed are horrible. Mario 64 and galaxy are exactly the same game, and so are MM and SS.
Even the plots of the games are same, that kinda there thing you know. Every mario and zelda game is the same as the last with some new gimmick.
@bullymangLer " that can imitate but not innovate"
Nintendo: Though it was an officially licensed product, Nintendo was not involved in the design or release of this accessory. Rather, it was designed by Grant Goddard and Samuel Cooper Davis for Abrams Gentile Entertainment (AGE), made by Mattel in the United States. [licensed]

"Innovation differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself."
If you own a PS3, and you honestly have no idea how Sony and their internal dev stuios can 'Innovate' in comparison to what you seem to highly praise of Nintendo....
It's either you're ignorant of your own bias or fanboy'ism and you're a closet case...
Or you have Really shitty taste in games and are unable to do enough research to know what's been released and what are great games or hidden gems that are either PS3/360 exclusive or just PS3 exclusive....
Lets not start fanboying, i stated a fact and thats about all i did. Journey, Flower,. . are all Nintendo tech inspired my good man . inFamous, Littlebig Planet heavy rain, aren't game CHANGERS for the better in their own respect... . imuh report myseLf
@bullymangLer your Stating an opinion, not a fact, you and many other gamer's are confused what innovation is and what it's not!
"Innovation differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself."
Nintendo is an innovator, Sony invents
you state this:
"that can imitate"
but yet did Nintendo create the WiiMote? no
they licenced it, unlike Nintendo Sony really did invent a method for their Motion control, So if Nintendo Licenced the technology they did not invent it in the first place, so how is it that Sony is going to " imitate"
They didn't invent a method for their motion control. They copied a method that had been created before them. That's not inventive or innovative. Sony didn't imitate Nintendo with the Wiimote they imitated the guy who made it.
"They didn't invent a method for their motion control. They copied a method that had been created before them. That's not inventive or innovative. Sony didn't imitate Nintendo with the Wiimote they imitated the guy who made it."
Now your just pulling out crap out of your @ss, how do i know?
Well its very freaking simple. DR. marks in 2000 showed off the working Move concept with a working prototype software with a wand control scheme a wand with a multi- colored ball @ this is one freaking full year before gyration pitched the idea to Nintendo in 2001!
that is one full frwaking year before Nintendo got their pitch, hmm did they get the idea from Sony? Nope, Nintendo never does that! LOL
oh' what's that a wand with a big colored ball with motion control gaming from a freaking PS2! ONE FULL YEAR BEFORE NINTENDO EVEN GOT THE PITCH FROM http://www.gyration.com/
so by that you heard it here first folk's Nintendo also invented Time Travel and DR. who is ripping off from Nintendo now also/ LMAO
I often think that but I also think the Same about if Sega had not gone bust and Microsoft had not come into the market etc.
For me I think having Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo in the market is very good for gaming as they are all pushing each other and as a gamer it works out better for us all. I also don't want any one of the console makers to dominate the market again as having very close sales for the 360 and ps3 and the Wii offering something different to the other two has made the current gen one of the best since the snes and mega drive days as they have all upped there game to bring us some amazing games like lbp, Alan wake, Mario galaxy etc.
We will away get the fan boys who will keep saying one is better than the other but I think as long as the 3 that are in the market now stay there gaming is in very good and safe hands as they all know how to keep pushing each other.
Well if Sony didn't try rip Nintendo off causing the partnership to fall through obviously they would have made the add-on and the SNES would have had some pretty cool games created by Sony and Nintendo coming together instead of those god awful CD-i games.
I'm guessing after the partnership Sony would have carried on to pursue making their own console which would have probably been the same as it was before it'd just have released after the N64 instead.
by the way, we had remote play between PSP and PS3 before WiiU was announced. The companies are rivals therefore they must provide for their fans in order to keep their fan base.
Necessity is the mother of invention. Prov. When people really need to do something, they will figure out a way to do it. When the fan belt on Linda's car broke in the middle of the desert, Linda used her stockings as a replacement.
There is some truth to this article even if you hate it.I remember sonys zelda killer...Dark cloud good game but no zelda killer. I love sony a great deal but they do follow nintendos lead alot. Don't get me wrong they do have ideas of there own which are great but they do follow nintendos lead in alot of things. Nintendo wont even implement tropies or achievements there so bull headed. MS has said this same thing before but in fewer words. Nintendo is creative and the industry is better because there around even if half of you wont amit it.
Yeah...well go and play on Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet 2, Journey, Flower, inFAMOUS 2 and you'll see some innovation. ¬¬
Another crazy article from Craptaku.
I like Sony and Nintendo both have great exclusives and free online.
This crap blog called kotaku.com needs to be banned by gamers... Gamers need to stop visiting and read their stupid useless crap.
