Guerilla: PS4 dev cost 'not as scary' as you'd think

Destructoid: "With the shiny, high-resolution look of the PS4 games we saw tonight, you'd expect that the cost of development would be much higher than games of the previous console generation. According to Guerilla Games' Hermen Hulst, the cost of making Killzone: Shadow Fall is comparable to previous series titles, and that it's 'not as scary as maybe some led you to believe.'" (Guerilla Games, Killzone: Shadow Fall, PS4)

If anything i imagine it being the same or even slightly less.Just because it has prettier graphics doesn't mean it's more expensive.Just less limitations.

No more cell architecture will make it easier for the noob coders like bethesda to get the job done.

It would be nice to play a Bethesda game with a perfect framerate on a Sony console for once.

I read somewhere Bethesda is already hating on PS4. In some interview Geoff asked an Epic dev. I could be wrong tho.

I think the architecture is making up for alot of it. Sony made a console not just for gamers but developers aswell this time. Lets hope indie devs like Jonathan Blow who said he was completely done with consoles, after Micro$oft screwed him over. Embrace the system.

This is very good to hear. It was sad to see all the studios being shut down when the PS3/360 came out because of the large transition from SD to HD. Studios just couldn't afford to make games anymore. It's nice to hear that the dev cost hasn't risen all that much and yet we get next generation quality games such as Killzone Shadow fall.

^ I like your profile pic! Lol anyways yea I agree if cost aren't that bad with a game as good looking as KZ: Shadow Fall then that's great news.

they've been making better looking games than anything shown for ps4 on pc for years, (and most of those ps4 showings were pre rendered trailers...target renders) and now ps4 has very similar architechture to pc, should be less even, with a greater audience to market to

steam alone has over 55 million users

theres already over 100 million pc gamers around the world to market your games to, plus xboxnext will also sport similar to pc specs

so thats three platforms that you can make your title for all with similar coding, scrpipting ect...

should really be less than the cost of a ps3 exclusive with a much, much larger user base to sell your game to

of course sony will still secure many awesome exclusives and thats why i'm grabbing a ps4 day 1!!!
