Bioshock Infinite gets a Season Pass

Today, Irrational Games have confirmed that upcoming Bioshock Infinite will receive a Season Pass.

Bioshock Infinite will receive three all-new add-on packs for the price of two. There will also be an Early Bird Special Pack full of exclusive gameplay enhancing bonuses.

The more these developers/publishers try to milk me for money through DLC, the less money I'm inclined to pay them.

I like to buy the main game day 1 if the game is good then sell it for 20 odd, then i rebuy the GOTY versions years down the line so it comes out to about the same as full price in the end.

I have also been avoiding games that do this season's pass BS. The plus side is that I now have the time to actually play the games I already own, but never got around to finishing. To be honest I suspect that this game will prove disappointing anyway. So Irrational can keep it and keep their season's pass.

Some of you do not understand DLC. This content would cease to exist if they did not say let's support the game after launch and work on more DLC. It is a separate budget and something they do not begin work on so much until after the game has launched or at least has gone gold. They are not being tricky or trying to Capcom people. They are working hard after the COMPLETED story to add more for those who choose to do so.

I will reserve judgement on this. If the DLC is handled properly, I will be happy. I think the concept of the season pass is brilliant, just that most developers/publishers use it as an excuse to make a lot of 'filler' content. If they weren't tied to this 'season pass', they could probably just work on one big expansion that releases 6-12 months later, instead of more than likely 4 pieces of mediocore crap.

I think one of the DLC's will be a 'challenge mode'. It is easy money, as every game has one of them and they probably were already in existence before the game was shipped. Just give me story related DLC and I'll be happy.

While I don't full agree with DLC I can see why they do it. The actual makers of the game get very little of the actual profit (about 30% from what I read) which compared to the cost it makes it + time spent, isn't really cutting all the checks. And since they can't throw Mt.Dew slogans or Nokia like EA can I can see why they are doing DLC.
I don't have a problem bioshock or borderlands (or any 2K game) because they've always released rewarding content. Now EA and Epic, on the other hand, sells you copy and paste gimmicks and then throws some "extra skins" like it was worth it.
I have a feeling this will be decent DLC and not just cut content, but it is creating a really bad trend!

People need to chill out. No studio with Irrational's reputation for quality is going to spend a solid 6 years on a game if they're only trying to make money. Most Bioshock fans would have loved to have this much more content to play after they completed the main game.

Hopefully they do something along the lines of what 2K did with Bioshock 2 and "Minerva's Den" - "Minerva's Den" was IMO actually a better story than the actual game, and totally worth the DLC $$$.

It looks like they've built the kind of universe here that could easily support some spun-off stories.

If you don't want DLC, don't buy it, but it makes no sense to swear off the actual game because of it.

Well I'm getting it at launch. Really makes no difference to me, and if you don't want the DLC then don't buy it. It REALLY is that simple. Thing I don't get is why so many gamers today want to make a stand about things that don't require it. And why is there always the assumption that a game is incomplete, just because it gets DLC? I'm not trying to change anyone's buying decision, but DLC is not going anywhere. We're in the digital age, and it's a natural way to *extend* gameplay, and yes, make more money at the same time. I'll just never understand people who never ever even touch DLC. All DLC is bad to so many people on the internet.

I will play the game and beat it. If I truly enjoy it then I will further support the developer and buy the DLC. I do not believe the DLC will take place directly after the ending or anything. I trust Ken Levine and Irrational. If you want the game then buy it and then choose to buy the DLC when that time comes.
