IGN's Favorite PlayStation Memories

IGN: This morning on Twitter the #PlayStationMemories hashtag exploded in response to the impending Sony event dominating New York City today. This prompted us here at IGN to reflect on the nearly two decades of awesome, insane, and occasionally depressing moments that we've spent huddled around Sony's iconic video game console line.

Here are some of our most famous (and shameless) PlayStation moments. What are yours? (Industry, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PSP, Sony)

"IGN's favorite PlayStation memories"

I remember in 06 through 10 they were completely bashing PS3. Even when PlayStation did something right they would completely overshadow it and pretend it didn't happen.

Greg Miller is a complete PS3 mark now though, I never trust a PS3 game he reviews. IGN as a whole has really lost its quality, but Miller in particular is pretty far up Sony's butt.

I don't think ps3 exclusives are that overrated. Most of them like GOW, Uncharted and little big planet are pretty amazing. They just need a better multiplayer.
Also almost all of the IGN staff are up microsoft's butt as well.

Miller and Moriarty are needed to balance it out. Every single employee at the US IGN office uses the Xbox 360 as their console of choice, they only play the PS3 for the rare exclusive titles.

Goldfarb is a PlayStation guy too, but he's just a news editor and not a reviewer. Clements also left the PlayStation team and primarily plays PC games now. Other than Greg & Colin, IGN is pretty much Xbox central.

The PS3 deserved to be bashed in 06 & 07. The Xbox was lightyears ahead of it. People forget how bad the PS3 was back then.

1.) No in-game XMB. If you got a message or wanted to see what friends were online, you HAD TO QUIT OUT OF YOUR GAME!. It was embarrassingly pathetic.

2.) The original PlayStation Store was absolutely horrible. It was a web-based page that was ugly and incredibly slow.

By the end of 2008 the console had a decent amount of exclusives. By the end of 2009, the PS3 had a better library than the 360. The security breach in 2011 killed a lot of momentum though.

My favorite PlayStation memories......

FF8 opening sequence

Metal Gear Solid hallway of dead bodies, first time you see cyborg ninja

Ending my first stage with Crash Bandicoot, seeing him dance like a crackhead

Performing my first kill in Manhunt

Killing Yiazmat in FF XII

Spanking my first hoe in God Hand

Having sex with Aphrodite in GOW 3 with the girls in the background being voyeurs moaning

Importing Deadly Premonition for the PS3, what Zack ?

I swear i think your balls get bigger playing on a PlayStation.

A recent one of mine is seeing Anor Londo for the first time. Wow... My jaw collapsed. Looking further back in time and there is:
• Tomb Raider: II - Venice
• Grand theft auto San Andreas - the map was mind boggling for it's time!
• Silent Hill - The atmosphere wa intense for a PS1 title, throw in a compelling story and engaging puzzle and they made a winner.
• Uncharted 2 - The train level halfway through the single player mode. Need I say more? It was amazing. Simply incredible.
• MGS1 - Having to unplug my controller to kill €}|^+? >^¥<}\ was an immersive yet humorous addition.
• The Simpsons: Hit and Rub - don't ask why but I loved this game. I used to spend hours on it!

"• The Simpsons: Hit and Rub"

Sounds dirty. I didn't mind the non X-rated one called Simpsons Hit and Run though. It was pretty good.

Sorry, I'm using my IPod Touch and I made a mistake which cannot be edited anymore. Oh well, I see your point haha.

I think my favourite E3 moment from Sony was probably their first real time showing of Killzone 2. Because everyone knew they were going to show the real time version and everybody kept saying how it would never live up to the 2005 video. There was so much expectation on what Sony would show. Would it live up to the hype, or would it fall short?

And when the the real time video played, it sent shivers down my spine, that demo was incredible. It was quite a shock actually just how good that game looked. Excellent demo, amazing e3 moment

I think one of my personal favourite PlayStation experiences was being able to fulfill a childhood dream and create my own little videogame. Thanks to LittleBigPlanet and PlayStation I was able to finally fulfill the dream.

Thanks Sony

Leaving Midgard for the first time for me, even though I enjoyed FF9 more, that was my first proper Playstation iconic memory for me.

The first time I summoned a lightning storm in inFamous 1.

Uncharted 2, near the end thinking "Wow, a mainstream game was ballsy enough to kill off a main character....oh wait they tricksed me."

The time I had my sister play SotC. After a lot of crying and swearing, she killed the first one and jubilantly threw her arms up, dropping the DS2 in her lap. But when the Colossus hits the ground it makes the DS2 vibrate and she was so surprised she spilled coke everywhere.

The moment I realized that just because it was Phat, didn't make it PS2 B/C.

The hype I underwent for the Vita, only for it to suffer PS3 launch syndrome (trickled removal of features, few games, etc)
