Does Kojima not care for Metal Gear Rising?

With Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance having just been released many people have been confused about Kojima’s view on the game,after having been asked by numerous people so the guys at Takuchat decided to just make this post for the sake of fans everywhere.

To make this simple to follow they shall split it up into sections

This is what Kojima posted not too long ago on his Twitter:

"About 2 yrs ago, our “free slash” game development enfaced stifling. Being not able to give up, I asked Platinum Games for their dev support. It was almost gambling for them but they took our request. And they kept both schedule and quality and brought about brand new fantastic game. Nothing can make me happier."

So I don't believe he's unhappy with the game. It's just not as much his project as the other games in the series, and (for example) Ground Zeroes.

It's true, Kojima doesn't like taking credit for work he feels isn't his own.

One thing to realize is that he may not have been as invested in the sevelopment process as other MG games, remember that P* handeld the brunt of the development process, my guess is he was there to approve it.

He could also very well be more concerned about other projects and feels like it's P* game to rave about

Really can you blame him though?Rising looks more like Samurai 7(the anime) then it does metal gear,platinum might make great action games but they were completely off the mark with with this game.

Yeah, I agree with everyone saying he was being humble. He doesn't hate the game. If he hated the game, he wouldn't have passed it off to Platinum Games. He would have kept it canned.

For what it's worth, though, and coming from a self-proclaimed Metal Gear Solid super fan, Metal Gear Rising is a mindblowing experience all-around. It may not demonstrate the MO of the MGS series at large, but it is a fantastic game that oozes style and high production values.

The music, the graphics, the gameplay, the style, the setpieces... I could list the amazing things about this game for a while.

Is it a great Metal Gear game? Yes. Does it demonstrate what Metal Gear Solid was originally made for? (complex/convoluted story depending on who you talk to, stealth gameplay with a little action mixed in) Not 100%... the story so far is quite confusing for me, and definitely doesn't give off the feeling of "Wow, this story will be remembered for the history of games." and is definitely not setting itself up to have a mindblowing ending like Snake Eater did...

But all that being said, it is a fantastic game by all accounts. It's amazing.

I even disliked the demo. But I took one for the MGS team and bought Rising: Revengeance yesterday, and so far it has been one jaw-dropping experience after another.

There is some contention whether or not the game is worth $60 or not, considering a lot of playtimes are being posted as somewhere around an average of 5-6 hours. And in my opinion, even if the game is 2 hours long, it's the most memorable 2 hours of gaming I have ever experienced, and for the fun alone it is worth the price of admission.

Don't brush it off because of its action focus. Give Revengeance a chance. :)

there is nothing wrong with this game at all. i played the demo and there's nothing wrong with it.
