Last Minute PS4 Predictions: No Uncharted 4, Microsoft’s Response, Etc. | Geek Revolt

GR's DeShaun Zollicoffer writes:

It feels a little surreal – the PS4 will be revealed tomorrow. It’s exciting and frightening at the same time. What if this is one big misunderstanding and Sony just wanted to talk about their upcoming PS3 games? I don’t even want to imagine what would happen if that were true. Here are some last-minute predictions for tomorrow’s event.

No price and only a tentative date. Microsoft will also not have a comment right away. They would be wise not to. Same with Nintendo.

I personally believe we will see some sort of premium paid model linked with Gaikai that will allow streaming of games and perhaps even a rental service. I think it will also have features that outshine Xbox Live. One cool feature Onlive has is spectator mode. Maybe a whole redesign of the Plus model. Playstation Home could also have major changes.

Yeah that would be the the misunderstanding of the century. Sony would have had to be ready to commit suicide if they did all this and spent all that money to get that building and build this hype and invite all their investor and the press and stream it live to talk about games? Games that could have just as easily been announced online on their blog? No I doubt that very much.It has to be at least PS4 level news if not a PS4.

No Uncharted 4 Announcement – We won’t see Uncharted 4. Naughty Dog and Sony will save it for E3 2013. They’re going to focus on The Last of Us for now. One game at a time, one game at a time.

No, don't believe whatever team number 2's working on won't be spoken about

Full Backwards Compatibility – The PS4 will be fully backwards compatible. All of your games, trophies, and downloadable content will carry over.

These features will be reserved for the premium model.

No way, suicide, if there's two models, both will support the above or neither will.

PS Vita + PS4 – The PS Vita recently got a price drop in Japan and Sony will announce one for the U.S. And the PS Vita will work as a PS4 controller.

No Price or Release Date – This goes without saying, but we won’t see a price or release date at this event. All of this will be saved for E3 2013 or a later event. Now isn’t the time to talk price.

Sucker Punch Will Wow the Crowd – Sucker Punch hasn’t released a new game in almost two years. They’re going to announce a new IP and it’s going to be one of the shows’ most talked about games.
Yes, new IP 50/50 with Infamous 3 my guess
Actual Gameplay Footage – No one likes pre-rendered trailers – do you remember that Killzone one? You’ll hear this line a lot at tomorrow’s event, “This is in-game footage”. They’re going to say this even if it’s untrue.

I agree

Microsoft’s Response – Microsoft will respond immediately after the event. Expect a statement about “how the Xbox 360 is still going strong”. They might even throw around some numbers to assert their dominance. Of course this will be a front – expect a Next Xbox reveal in the spring.
Console Wars: This Time It’s Personal – Gaming forums and comment sections will be flooded with trolls and fanboys. I know – that sounds like Tuesday. Well, it’ll be 10x worse tomorrow.

Destiny tried and failed here.

Sony could knock this event out of the park, and people will still complain. Prepare for the worst.

GameStop Shareholders Rejoice! – The PS4 won’t block used games, and if it does Sony wouldn't come out an announce it. That would be a PR nightmare and it would overshadow the good news.

Online features might require a pass, used games per say won't be blocked.

Hopefully MS response doesn't have an awkward moment like the GOP's response to the State of the Union(water bottle)....I'm joking people...haha...don't jump down my throat...Oh boy I'm scared now to see what happens...I'm sorry(in whisper voice) :-)

I think it would be awesome if Naughty Dog announced a totally new IP for PS4. I mean, as much as I love Unchartered, I just believe such talented developers need to move on from a series, after 3,4 or 5 (at most), games in the 1 series....they are creative people, & when creative people get stuck on the same game for multiple sequels, they start losing the creativity, & there boredom starts rearing it's head in there games. Naughty Dog have always moved on from series when they need to, which has basically always been, when Sony's new hardware releases.
Now, The Last Of Us is a great last hurrah from ND to PS3, but I would rather something far bigger & better from ND, when they announce there 1st game for PS4.

On the other hand, I would like to see Insomniac return as a Sony exclusive developer & continue the Ratchet & Resistance series on PS4, & maybe a new IP from them.

A new Motorstorm would also be unbelievable, & a Socom from Guerrilla & another Wipeout would be humungous.
A new Warhawk/Starhawk, as well as a new Twisted Metal, although, they are now unlikely given morons not choosing to support the awesome AAA+ PS3 versions.
