GTA V: Xbox 360 version to have 10 discs?

SchollA from Console ControllUs pronounced console-control-us writes:
Game Informer: “Features the biggest open world in the series’ history – GTA 5′s world is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and GTA IV combined.”

Now if this quote doesn’t raise an eyebrow even “The Rock” would be proud of I don’t know what to tell you. This is still coming to multiple platforms correct? C’mon you know you thought that too.

Sounds like Rockstar, based on the latest news that released a little while back is making their biggest open-world game to date and not only their biggest GTA game, but biggest ever. GTA V bigger than RDR, GTA III: San Andreas, and GTA IV combined? How in the OPEN-WORLD (lmbo) is Rockstar going to pull this off? Let me bring it back a little to put things in perspective. (Grand Theft Auto V, Xbox 360)

Interesting article, but I think it'll be 3 discs max, like L.A. Noire.

How they do that will be impressive considering it's supposedly larger than several of Rockstar's games combined, the scale and impressive detail in the world, and the improved graphics.

"GTA V: Xbox 360 version to have 10 discs?"

I dont know why, but I found this headline so damn funny and laughed when I read it XD

10 discs is just ridiculous haha
theBAWSE  +   617d ago
I laughed at raise an eyebrow the rock would be proud of
KwietStorm  +   617d ago
I laughed too. Its not only ridiculous, I don't think its even feasible.
Bathyj  +   617d ago
I laughed that americans say rooting for you.
Rainstorm81  +   617d ago
I agree 10 discs is beyond ridiculous, downright unplayable
b163o1  +   617d ago
10 disc? lmao. If this was true(which I highly doubt), I'm sure R* would be smart enough to pass on the 360 and shoot for the 720 or NextBox or what ever the hell is going to be called.
Lol I laughed then clicked.
GasClown  +   617d ago
That's bullshit - I heard 20 discs. 10 for the game and the remaining to use for throwing at your wife when she tries to take over the television.

10 disks?! LOL. In before "At least it will be better than waiting for a 10 minute install". LOL @ xbox. (I know it really wont be 10 disks, but still LOL @xbox).
Nafon  +   617d ago
LOL my exact reaction! a tip of the hat to you! I laughed even more when i imagined how thick the case would have to be to hold 10 discs!

@ Bathyj

And I find it funny that most people have no idea why you find it funny :)

Aussies do.

You guys got it lucky these days. I remember playing the Secret of Monkey Island 2 on the Amiga and having 11 disks!

And it was completely random too. Like you'd start on one disk then have to more to disk 7 and then disk 3 etc.

Anyway i font think the size of the map will matter. They can easily fit it on one disk. Just look at Just Cause 2. Even the cutscenes aren't that bad as Rockstar tends to just render them in the in game engine. LA Noire probably would have been one disk if it wasn't for the new facial tech. But who knows, its a valid concern and will be interesting to see how it ends up
Septic  +   616d ago
Haha 10 discs.. .okay that's just stupid.
SilentNegotiator  +   616d ago
GTA5 is definitely going to have ~90GB of data.
/s
WeskerChildReborned  +   617d ago
Well if it's as big as some of Rockstar's biggest games combined, that is saying something.
unchartedxplorer  +   616d ago
That mean the ps3 version will need 2 discs.
10 multiplied by 9= 90G
Max ps3 blu-ray size
50G
AJ Hartley  +   615d ago
Nope theres blu ray discs capable of 500gb
GamersRulz  +   617d ago
I expect GTA V to be 4 discs on 360.
DERKADER  +   617d ago
Question mark used to justify attention grabbing title?
StrongMan  +   617d ago
I think about 5 DVDs should be enough.
Mikeyy  +   617d ago
In before Xbox fiend tells us how the DVD is big enough to even hold Xbox 720 games.
Megaton  +   617d ago
4, max. I wish Rockstar had gone with multiple discs for GTAIV when they ran into capacity issues on 360. Could have probably made for a much better game.
Awesome-Xanto  +   617d ago
This is just stupid, I will be surprised if it has more than 2... but it may fit on just one.

L.A. Noire needed 3 disk because of the facial animation. Graphics and such are not that large in size. Compression is also a lot better now then it was when GTA 4 released.

"Now if this quote doesn’t raise an eyebrow even “The Rock” would be proud of I don’t know what to tell you."

This is all.
Jek_Porkins  +   617d ago
I'd say 2, or at the most 3. The Xbox 360 has a slightly larger size since the update a year or so ago. I think they hold close to 9 gigs each now? So I'd guess 2, maybe 3. Which isn't too bad at all.
kayoss  +   617d ago
Imagine replacing 10 disc just to finish the game. I say the worst is 5 discs and min is 3 discs. I wonder how many bluray for ps3???
How would this work with 10 discs. The game is an open world... If you go back to a different city do you reload a disc? Unless mandatory install.

Oh no need to wonder, just 1 Blu-ray.
HeavenlySnipes  +   617d ago
Actually laughed at the title
FarCryLover182  +   617d ago
I'm going to buy this on my PS4 and Xbox 720, so this won't affect me anymore.

Given the fact that it will probably come to next-gen.
Nelson M  +   617d ago
Fantastic !
ip4jwipthjtt  +   617d ago
I think no more than 4 disks would be reasonable, though I'm wondering if Rockstar would be able to take the same approach Halo 4 and Forza 4 did. They both came with two disks, the 2nd one you would install and never had to insert again.
josephayal  +   617d ago
Multiple discs are a good thing
Getting up to switch 10 discs is good exercise
PersonMan  +   617d ago
Has anyone ever considered that Rockstar may even re-use some of the texture assets in other parts of the world/map? They don't have a unique texture for every single item in the map.

Use your heads guys. It's not going to be on 10 discs.

Hell... look at how MASSIVE Just Cause 2's word is and that's only on ONE disc.
BitbyDeath  +   617d ago
GTAV will be a bit harder to reuse textures as the cities are unique and detailed as opposed to the jungles of JC2.

dogdirt2000  +   617d ago
If I recall correctly, Avalanche relied upon procedural generation tech for both Just Cause 1 and 2. I can't remember to what extent, but it certainly would have given them more space for other in-game assets. There's also the repetitious nature of jungle environments making everyone's life easier. I get your point, though.

ip4jwipthjtt  +   616d ago
BUT PS3 HAS NO GAMES.
USMC_POLICE  +   616d ago
lol yeah i used to love that excuse
Perjoss  +   617d ago
As long as it runs at a higher resolution on 360 than on PS3 like GTA4 did, then I'm fine with multiple discs.
InTheLab  +   617d ago
You'd rather deal with 10 discs at 720p than 2 at 640p? lol...
Perjoss  +   617d ago
You really believe its going to be 10 discs?
InTheLab  +   617d ago
I dont but it's equally ridiculous to worry about a few pixels...
Indo  +   617d ago
BluRay
ajax17  +   617d ago
Maybe Bethesda should help them out. They fit Skyrim on one disc. Even though GTA always has those cutscenes...
WitWolfy  +   617d ago
What a crappy troll article!
claud3  +   617d ago
LAUGHABLE and 10 disc's, would result in extremely no sales for ROCKSTAR

Oh this is terrible.

Since the PS3 is the lead console for this game and knowing it will only ship on 1 blu ray disc; this is a massive no brainer.

Got my PS3 version pre-ordered.
MultiConsoleGamer  +   616d ago
This should have never been approved.

N4G you have squandered your potential as the video game industries only news aggregator just so you can push some fanboy agenda. I hope the owners of Hava Media think about the money they could have had, the clout they could have had, the power the should have had. All gone, all for nothing.
aLucidMind  +   616d ago
1- I don't see how people actually believe that GTA5 will be on anything more than two or three discs at the extreme most, let alone ten.

2- I don't see how getting up off your chair for a couple seconds to swap a disc once every few days is such an inconvenience. Even more so considering it likely takes less than one minute to do so considering most people have their games on a shelf close to their console and tv.
Deku-Johnny  +   616d ago
This just proves everyone who thinks we don't need new consoles yet wrong. If you need a stupid amount of discs for a game then your console just isn't good enough.
kma2k  +   616d ago
i wonder what the install size is going to be, max payne was what like 30gb, so is this going to be like 50Gb? I have a 60gb hdd in my 360.
stumpa  +   616d ago
horseshit
Mikefizzled  +   616d ago
So if the discs hold 8Gb of data the game is between 72gb and 80gb. Bulls**t.
ZBlacktt  +   616d ago
I recall playing on DVD's. Those were the days.
