VG247: ''Industry analyst Michael Pachter has clarified comments from earlier in the week about the Wii U and 3DS, arguing that poor hardware sales will keep software sales low, leading to tough times for the big N.''
Hear that guys...it's the sound of Pachter tearing up the ground.....digging himself into a bigger hole
***Pachter: "If I’m wrong, I’ll admit it"*** lol We'll see about that.
EVERYTHING is taken out of context. That is a requirement when making any kind of public statement. you have to do it in a way where you know it will be cherry picked and re-posted to twist things around.
"Hear that guys" your system sales suck? Do not be in denial, Their figures are weak The Wii U is a failure by all accounts - well talk again I am sure when the next Nintendo sales figures post.
You realize that these are almost the exact same figures for when the 360 launched, right? It was pretty weak but it picked up. Give it time.
@Trenta27: Not to take sides, but, you should read this http://www.gamasutra.com/vi...
@Trenta I am with ya on that, however; those weren't good for 360 either not to mention 360 brought a previous crowd with them by cancelling their previous system, Nintendo still has the cheap and very solid Wii out.
So you admit that the sales figures were initially bad for the 360... but only call the Wii U a "failure by all accounts" when it's in the same boat? That doesn't make a lick of sense. Exactly what crystal ball do you have telling you that sales can't pick up for the Wii U later on the way they did for the 360?
Just what world needs, more Pachter face-time...
“I have spoken to several publishers who are skeptical, and I think that the Wii U will see a lower level of third party support than the Wii did, unless sales materially improve." I don't see whats wrong with the guy he has more knowledge of whats going on in the gaming business than you. ;)
He's back tracking is what we would like to call it... Stating the obvious does not equal industry inside info. This guy is the laughing stock of the industry and wasn't it just last week during the Bonus Round. When one guy on the panel said "Oh we refer to that as making a Pachter!" This guy says blatant things to make headlines and then tries to clean them up by stating "if the WiiU sales increase then 3rd party games will increase." How is that suddenly a brilliant observation of the current WiiU status?
Damn, I guess we were all wrong. If Patcher says so, then the Wii U WILL succeed :)
This is a nice list of games 3rd party and 1st ? Beyonetta2 Xenoblade2 Wonderful 101 Pikimin3 Windwaker HD LegoCity MonsterHunter Gearbox FPS ? Destiny ? Mariokart WiiU ProjectCars Dirt WiiU NFS MostWantedU Concept GP ? WatchDogs ? Zelda WiiU Aliens CM Real version MarioWorld 3D Adventure F-Zero ? Starfox ? Smashbros WiiU Metroid Nextgen Battlefield 4 And these are without the more games Iwata has hinted at ? Quality over Quantity.
Just like the PS3 in it's budding years. Quality over quantity. I'm really glad I got a Wii U~
That's a lot of question marks there chief. Aliens? C'mon boss. It seems like your grasping at straws to come up with a decent quantity to be honest let alone quality.
Nice list of wild guesses, wishes and assumptions pulled out of thin air! As for the rest, the vast majority have no release dates and probably won't even be out this year. I mean when your biggest game is a GameCube port and that's all you really have to tide your customers over for the year, you're in trouble I think. Also, classifying the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines as 'the real version' when it's the same game with nothing extra save for a touchpad gimmick (according to the actual QA testers who've played it) is really clutching at straws.
You're really reaching on some of those. Miyamoto said he was eager to see Star Fox come to the Wii U but that's hardly an announcement. Also, Monolith is reportedly working on a Wii U title but there's been no indication that it's Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
So the demo of (X) with the same exact battle system and a picture of Shulk at the end isn't a indication of Xenoblade 2 ????
A lot of those games aren't even announced. You're reaching. And some of them have been confirmed to NOT be releasing on the Wii U, such as Destiny and Watch Dogs. There have also been insider reports that the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines is not only the worst version, littered with technical problems, but also that it's been postponed indefinitely. When you have to make up a list filled with fake games that should tell you that there's a problem.
Umm, unless I you give me a source for watch dogs and Destiny not coming for the wiiu, I have to disagree. Because I do not remember an article anywhere having ubisoft or bungie stating that it isn't. They haven't even stated anything at all. Also if your "insider report" for the aliens game is that game tester, what makes him so reliable. Did we forget that people can lie? Personally I believe that the wiiu aliens game will be somewhat better graphically since it isn't developed by gearbox and has more time to be develop, but be just as bad in terms of story.
It's kindof unsurprising Wii U is selling poorly, the system's current games are kinda dry right now. It will be sellin good once all those games start coming out. On that list I see at least 10 games I'd consider system sellers.
When the software comes, the system will sell. Why is this Hard for people? lol. Remember those "PS3 has no games" memes back in '06-'08? Then after Metal Gear Solid 4, everyone shut up about it. No, the Wii U is not Worth getting right now, and it sucks for us early adopters, But once the Mario Kart, and the 3D Mario game come out, systems will start being moved, and it will be less a discussion of sales, but more about games this gen.
I think the Wii U is over shadowed by the next gen hype and this is normal. Nintendo did not significantly beef up their hardware from last time and from what I heard, these consoles that are coming up have a lot going for them. Except maybe the xbox with the forced Kinect.
Pachter meant what he said the first time. Don't hold back Buddy! Just like he said before...Nintendo Need Games!
I like how people defending Ninny try and use the initial 360 sales numbers as a crutch to suggest ninny will improve meaningfully. Those were different times, fps was just coming into its own, Xbox live was established and was critical in increasing hardcore gamers. And then there's that. Hardcore gamers buy games. They buy them often. They buy multiple games monthly. Ninny catered to casuals for so long they now only have them for their sales hopes. Fail Ninny in trouble. But they got cash. They'll be fine. But don't see wiiU as anything other than what it is. In trouble.
I think they will be out of trouble when their games are released. If the Wii U launched with Zelda, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros.... we wouldn't even be having this conversation. - Games sell a system. Has nothing to do with hardcore or not. The Wii U needs games.
Patcher in damage control... I think he knows most of the internet thinks of him as a douche but has to make sure he is professional about it >:) Personally I think every time he opens his mouth about any major company Sony/MS/Nin that they feel it can harm their business. Have their Lawyers contact Patcher's boss. It is the US. and you can sue for just about anything? He seems to always paint a grim picture for every console. I mean you don't have to be a prick about it ( almost as if he's running for politics)
If Nintendo was smart they would make a console version mmo style open world Pokemon game it would be a system seller for sure. Also if they were to acquire the rights to publish a new Star Wars Battlefront, i swear i would buy a Wii U right now if those two games existed.
PUKETER also had this to say, " DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH, DUH.!" For those who do not speak stupid, here is the translation,: " i am a big stupid, moron, with a big mouth who doesn't know anything about video games, and i am sony and microsoft's talking rectum!!!
“Nintendo has around ¥1 trillion (around $11 billion) in cash, so they aren’t in danger of going out of business for decades. However, if they aren’t profitable, they aren’t doing a good job for shareholders.” There you go! It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo doesn't do to good, but they are nowhere near in danger of becoming a "software only" company. $11 bullion in cash doesn't include any assets, just pure cash... Either way it goes, I don't think that the Wii U will be a failure this gen; maybe not as successful as the Wii, but will not be a failure nonetheless...
I think that units will start moving when Nintendo actually shows up. NSMB aside, to me it looks like they're still kind of sleeping on the software front. I think that once they really start revving the engine, we'll see some positive momentum. I think Nintendo will have some interesting stuff for E3 this year. E3 13 is going to be the most competitive(exciting) E3 in a pretty long time. I'm sure Nintendo is well aware of that, seeing as how they teased E3 content last month.
lol..now that clown patcher seem to be a god to all nintendo haters....too bad he couldnt help them stop the wii from winning last generation and he will not stop wiiu from winning this one...maybe he should help sony solve the vita problem since he knows so much now
