I'm intrigued as to what people will make of this defence. I'm naturally skeptical- there just seems to be so much going wrong with, not only the review, but things that happened in the background amidst it. But, I wonder who will defend EGM? It seems somewhat difficult to do so.

These people don't get paid to review the game great otherwise there would be nothing but 10s for it from everywhere... he more than likely didn't play the game thought it would be good and just gave it a 9/10.

It was probably this guy's last review, so he either:

1. Gave a high score so as not to burn any bridges.

2. Completely blew it off and thought it would get around mostly 6/10, 7/10 scores.

3. Decided to make readers suspicious of EGM's credibility on his way out.

4. Or he really thought is deserved a 9/10.

I would be inclined to believe 4 if it weren't for the review itself. I didn't seem to support the rating. Under the circumstances I would say the high score was for the resume more than anything else. Dumb idea to do a hard hitting review when you are going to be looking for a job.
