we will find out tomorrow if next gen systems will be able to top this game in graphics, physics and lighting. i believe the ps4 will be able to do better than crysis 3 on ultra.
i have crysis 3 and it looks stunning in movement where these pics doesnt do it justice. as soon as i enter the grassy area in the first level it starts glitching in and out constantly. im hoping for a patch soon to fix it because i genuinely like this game. i need to finish both crysis 1 and crysis 2 so i can better understand the story but from what ive played of crysis 3 i can tell its a game ill be enjoying a lot.
You mean next gen consoles? As of now its not possible unless we want a console the size of a PC tower with a huge power supply unit (PSU).
Maybe in a few more years but by than PC will have evolved even more. A console that can keep up with PC ...would have to become a PC itself and that pretty much defeats the purpose of a game console.
When tech advances more and little power is needed to juice up powerful GPUs (graphics cards) than we will get a nice slim and cheap console that can do all this. We are still years away from that do but! look at Tegra4... seems close... give it about a decade.
The thing is; you can have the newest and biggest tower and have the best multiplatform games. BUT..you miss one keyword here. Optimization. A few years in, the PS4 exclusives will blow away anything PC can offer right now. Just look at UC3. That game already looks sick on a 7 year old system which is incredibly outdated. Time will tell, folks.
finally someone who makes sense. i have noticed some hostility on this website towards anything regarding pc but you make a really good point " A console that can keep up with PC ...would have to become a PC itself and that pretty much defeats the purpose of a game console." best quote ever. well said.
What you mean to say is that next gen launch titles won't look as good as crysis 3 maxed out on PC. And even that may be up for debate, depending on which 1st party developers are releasing games at launch.
Firstly, if someone had shown me this in 2005 as 'the future' when the 'current gen' consoles were just budding, I would have been rather disappointed I think. A simple matter of opinion though.
To me, PC gaming is often as much about spending your spare time and money on submerging your PC in Liquid Nitrogen to get a 'high score' on 3D Mark as it is on gaming as such. Software developers want to sell their experiences to millions of gamers and that means aiming at the average rather than the elite although offering the elite some bells and whistles is always welcome ;)
It actually took a fair old chunk of time before PC's could effectively run the original Crysis at decent FPS on even fairly decent PC's. Crytek made a product for PC's to grow into and in so doing made headlines in the graphics world and established themselves as a 'cutting edge' developer. Great stuff.
If you factor the massive overheads of the OS etc on the PC, the PS4 should really be a beast of a machine until pure horse power from the never ending march of outdated PC Graphics cards force the average mainstream PC titles (not tech demos) to out-gun that milestone which will happen of course.
If a rather bizarre alternative world existed where consoles were updated once a year I am sure it would be an interesting spectacle at the very least to see how things went would it not?
At the very least, I prefer to game on my console these days because, rather than my hardware altering the architects vision of what I am experiencing, I not only want to see the product as the albeit exclusive developer intended, I actually enjoy seeing how the creators of the games compete in refining and optimising their code to continually break barriers and redefine my expectations of my chosen platform while still keeping true (or pretty close) the their vision.
Have u finished it yet? I suggest starting inside the dome mission 2 on Supersoldier difficulty...and no nooby run & gun stuff. Oh i forgot u is a Killzone fanboy that is only used to generic run & gun levels. Or i suggest buying Crysis 1 and learn to play Crysis first. oh thnx Digitalsmoke my 1st comment is now supposedly 'off topic'. peeps read my other comment.
Unreal 4 and CryEngine 3 are about on parity in terms of graphical prowess. Besides the fancy particles, Crysis 3 easily looks as good (if not better) than the Unreal 4 demo.
You probably only viewed the screens in the shrunken down photo viewer version instead of the full screen uncompressed resolution version of the screenshots. When viewed that way, it doesn't look as impressive.
I was playing that part of the game on my 360 today and was wondering how much better it looked on the PC. Thanks, you just answered my question, it looks a lot better on PC.
Crysis 3... A graphical update to Crysis 1 that they will charge full price for. Sound familiar? Yup you got it, Far Cry 3 was the same thing. When will people give up on Crytek?
i don't know man, half life 2 on pc still looks better than 95% of ps3/360 games, sure, gears 3, uncharted 3 and killzone 3 may look a little better, (barely though) but much, much lower resolution and have way more jaggies
half life 2 came out in 2004, at launch we were playing it in higher resolutions than 99% of ps3/360 games (personally i was playing in 1280x1024 back then, way higher than ps3/360 games, but lots of people who had better monitors were playing in 1600x1200
Well I cannot agree there. I'm looking at it and honestly I think you've got it backwards. If you think http://www.youtube.com/watc... doesn't look better than Half life 2 you're outta your mind. Or this http://www.youtube.com/watc... and Hd wasn't offically out even to pc gamers until 2008 google it pal.
loool, stop trolling. Simply running at a higher resolution does not equate to looking better. Nor does frame rate... The game looks incredibly bland, but is compensated by good physics are a fairly open world. 90% of current gen games were looking better then this from 2007. I would even say Oblivion a 360 launch window title topped this but I guess that ran like shit.
but again, if you put performance 1st then you will feel differently
both games you posted aren't even out yet, lol....and one is just a cutscene game with gte's and when heay rain came out it looked NOTHING like the bs tech demo's they showed, it looked like this;
CryEngine 3 is very much a next-gen engine. If you're expecting next-gen console games to look better than Crysis 3 on PC, you're in for a world of disappointment.
Some of these guys are pretty clueless. Coding to the metal of these consoles will have to be debated AFTER we see the games. No one really knows just how powerful and optimized they can get. But the Nvidia 700 series will be out in a year or so and then you start all over again. The PS4 is only going to make PC games run harder. Best of both worlds is to own both as those Sony exclusives are worth the price alone imo.
And if you think Cry 3 is not next gen you need to go back to 4th grade tweeny. Some of you people are srsly retarded. Engine looks fantastic. Will be a bitch and a half to get running at 60FPS tho.

Screw graphics, give me improved gameplay.

Ones after that will hopefully keep getting better.

its looks barely better than a ps2 games, Half Life 2 demolishes that!
I'm looking forward to what Unreal Engine 4, Luminous, Fox, Frostbite look like.
