Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review [GameRevolution]

GR: "Can Kojima and Platinum Games deliver on the promise of a Raiden-focused action game? With two talented, but stylistically different studios on the job, what could possibly go wrong?" (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360) 2/5

its not that bad , is it ?
ftwrthtx  +   507d ago
It seems to be a love it or hate it game.
ftwrthtx  +   507d ago
I'll be playing this for a while. I'm pretty sure the Platinum is out of reach, though.

Another complainer of the difficulty.

Is it really that hard to block? I found it simple in the demo once I got used to it.(took 15 mins)

yeah me too

It was really hard for me. I couldn't block the whole demo and it was frustrating as he'll on higher difficulties.. But this isn't my type of game, so I couldn't knock it if I'm not familiar with it

Ive read a few of the more negative opinions and the compliance are genuinely to parrying not consistent (which is not true), too difficult, and too short, not a metal gear game. I have yet to see a negative review that actually holds any weight or credence.

Then you probably haven't read playstation life style review, as they seems to have legit complaints about the game:
- Horrid camera;
- Awful parry system (w/ both parry and attack assigned to the same button);
- Ridiculous story not worth following along with;
- Invisible walls;
- Bosses, grunts, even supporting characters are bland and forgettable;
- Lifeless enviroment;
- VR training doesn't offer any real training and is not worth playing;
- Too linear, with no exploration;
- Upgrades have little effect;

http://www.playstationlifes...

according to them, the whole game is an mess!

Then again those are the same kind of sites that found the ridiculously easy DmC good enough , with gameplay depth and a good story .

It should at least be consistant for the sites to be at polar opposites gamewise as opposed to the likes of IGN whom love almost everything .

Still i have to chuckle at "- Too linear, with no exploration;" as if their darling had any exploration

"No dodge mechanic, hit-or-miss parrying"

there IS a dodge mechanic

"Can't switch weapons on the fly"

You can use 2 weapons at a time like Darksiders

"Goofy, wasteful stealth mechanics"
For an ACTION game the stealth is very well implemented

This reviewer sucks

Knushwood Butt  +   507d ago
Yeah, but does it have real time weapon change?
Redempteur  +   507d ago
do you need a weapon change when you can
-change your blade type
-cut anything that isn't in the level boundary ?
wAnxTa  +   507d ago
wtf? Some scores are awful high, some scores are awful low.
EbeneezerGoode  +   507d ago
MY score is awfully low. Boring game. 5/10
wheresmymonkey  +   507d ago
The parrying is fine. Sick of reviewers who give games crap scores because they suck at it.

I gave it 4.5/5 - its brilliant.

Ugh. Disappointed at how terrible it appears to be :(
Leave it to Platinum Games to kill franchises. Glad this flopped.
Megaplaynate  +   506d ago
Add Ninja Theory to the list.

So far from what i have read those who learned how the parrying system & blocking works in the game has enjoyed it. Those who have not learned the parrying & blocking system in the game have hated it.

I'm not gonna mention the camera cause most hack & slash games usually have issues with the camera cause of its fast paces nature & the camera failing to keep up.

I like Platinum Games & the type of games they make. They are over the top, stylish & for the most part all about fun. Had it with Bayonetta, Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns & even though i have not played the full game yet MG Rising looks to be the same.
