Three Big Reasons Destiny Should Come to the Wii U

GenGAME writes: If you didn’t catch Bungie’s reveal of Destiny, you’re missing out. This beautiful, massive online console adventure promises to be one of the biggest hits we’ve seen in a long time, but so far we’ve heard nothing about a possible Wii U version. We know we’ll see Destiny on Sony and Microsoft products in the future, but there are some pretty compelling reasons for the game to come to the Nintendo Wii U as well. ( Metroid Prime, Bungie, Destiny, Nintendo, Wii U)

This will simply boil down to a cost/benefit analysis of whether enough people have a WiiU versus the cost of porting it to that console.

On current numbers you would have to say no...

I agree. From a ROI point of view it is incredibly unlikely to happen. Compound that with the risk of making a loss and things look even worse. Still we can always dream...

I say why not, why speculate if a game comes to a console thats out and that I already own if it doesn't cost much or take much effort to port it?

You don't think there will be enough interest in the game on Wii U? I'd have to disagree there. Plus, Activision said it's not coming out till next year anyway. Another Christmas will boost Wii U sales.

Yup, agreed. 6 months after the release of the likes of Mario Kart U and Wii U Fit and the sales figures for the Wii U will be a hell of a lot larger than they are now. Nintendo just need to get up off their arses and start advertising the console properly!

We're all for Destiny on the Wii U. No gamer should have to miss out on this amazing looking game.

Yeah it seems that way, but when looking at the 3DS which did almost as poorly in it's release window compared to how it's doing now, the wind could change its direction at some point.
So while it may be unlikely that Destiny will release for Wii U on the game's launch date, it might just happen later at some point.

Then again, if this game is a "ten-year experience" like Bungie says, chances are that the graphics and the technology behind the game will evolve over that course as well, and then it will suddently be an ideal next-gen title, and probably have next gen graphics instead. Then people playing it on Wii U will jump ship again.

It's one of those things to which I'd have to say "eventually." But if they're thinking of putting it on other next-gen platforms, the risk seems like it'd be about the same for both those platforms and Wii U. It'd be a good way of offering what obviously looks like it's planned to be a huge brand to a wide audience.

It won't, save your breathe. Wii.U is already having heavy trouble with 3rd party devs, and it's early in it's life.

I was going to buy the console, but at this rate I see another price drop similar to the 3Ds.

Like a lot of people on this site I have all 3 current gen consoles so I'm going to be shallow and say I'll buy it for whichever console makes it look the prettiest :)

I don't think it should come to Wii-U. I have no qualms about it being on the platform but the thing is, these users will probably only get the first title in the series. Destiny 2 and 3 are probably going to only be on Sony's and Microsoft's consoles and the Wii-U probably could not run that same version of the game. It would be possible to port the current gen version over to the Wii-U though, but would Wii-U owners only want to play game 1?
