The Wii U is not doomed, and GameDwellers explores the reasons as to why the console will do fine.
"Why the Wii U is not doomed" Because Nintendo still have a rather large consumer base and even though many of them have yet to of purchased a Wii U (myself included) they will no doubt eventually, especially when more big 1st party Nintendo titles come out and 3rd party titles such as Monolith soft's X and Platinum games Bayonetta 2.
^ lol, What do those disagrees even mean? 'Shut up! It's gonna be teh failz! My favez company will win! All yer customerz r belong 2 us!' People need to stop acting like middle school kids on this site. It's one thing to disagree, but the hit and run, anonymous disagree that pretty much everyone knows are based in ugly fanboyism is just pathetic. If there is truly a compelling anti-Wii U argument that is fact based, but doesn't encompass the same struggles that both MS and Sony will face with their new consoles, I'd love to hear it. You can pretty much title an article 'Revealed: Wii U CPU silicon refined from dog crap' and it will get more attention and people to take it seriously than a positive Wii U article. Bleh.
Some times you get disagrees because they don't like you or comments
Hence why I said: "It's one thing to disagree, but the hit and run, anonymous disagree that pretty much everyone knows are based in ugly fanboyism is just pathetic."
"People need to stop acting like middle school kids on this site" haha what? uhh how old do you think all these ps360 trolls are? they are acting like middle school children...BECAUSE THEY ARE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
One observation: Nintendo owns Monolith Soft now, so their game is first party. ;)
Monolith Soft are 2nd party. Only in house IPs are 1st party such as Mario, Zelda etc. Games made by Nintendo's subsidiaries are 2nd such as Kirby, Xenoblade etc.
Nope, they're actually first party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... "In the video game industry, a first-party developer is part of a company which manufactures a video game console and develops exclusively for it. First-party developers may use the name of the company itself (such as Nintendo), have a specific division name (such as Sony's Polyphony Digital) or have been an independent studio before being acquired by the console manufacturer (such as Rare or Naughty Dog)." Monolith Soft is now 100% owned by Nintendo, making them now a first party studio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... "As of May 6, 2007, Nintendo owned controlling interest in the company after Namco Bandai sold 80% of its 96% stake in Monolith Soft to Nintendo. This went into effect May 1, 2007. Later Namco sold the remaining 16%, making Monolith Soft a first-party developer for Nintendo." In the context of video game development, a second-party studio is one that's not completely owned by the hardware manufacturer (Nintendo in this case), but makes games exclusively for them most of the time, or all of the time. Sometimes said studios aren't owned by the hardware manufacturer at all. Pokémon is a Nintendo second party franchise, believe it or not. :P
First up, I must state that I own a wii u and see it having a future, however I don't think it's going to be a rosy as I would like it to be. For a variety of reasons Nintendo have been losing third party support for generations. You can argue back and forth why and if it really matters, but it can't be denied that some major multi-platform games have either skipped Nintendo consoles or been poorly implemented on them. Yes, I know that there is going to be fantastic first party games coming, that's why I bought the wii u and the reason it has future. Nintendo make great games. The problem is that they needed to make a great console and they haven't. Yes, the gamepad and miiverse are brilliant, but what else is there to entice the publishers and developers to support it? From their point of view tech specs do matter, particularly when making multi-platform. A year or two from now that message will be driven home when the next Xbox and ps4 will be getting the latest Rockstar or Bungie game and the wii u won't. You may not want to play these games, but you should have the choice. I pray that I am wrong, but I saw it happen with the N64, the GameCube and then the wii...
It's unfortunate how many people disregard the Wii U as a bad console. BC with original Wii software and accessories Tablet-like controller, with off-tv play feature Premium owners get 10% cash back on all digital purchases (credit goes towards eshop points, and it's only for a limited amount of time) I'll be honest - I favor Nintendo over the other companies, though I'll never belittle the competition, ''just cause.'' If there's a valid reason why certain gaming company's don't float boats (metaphorically writing), then negative criticism can be totally valid of that said company(s). What urks me are comments like, ''this system is garbage, and you all know it!'' running rampant in the N4G, getting up votes and people getting rewarded for it. There should be a standard; juvenile, ''haha, the system sux! xD'' comments demean this community and gamers as a whole. I've seen (read, actually) way too many influential Debbie Downers for my liking - let's reformat N4G into a place that isn't tagged with drive-by trolling, but with people who enjoy games and understand the concept of the word ''debate'' without resorting to immature behavior.
Ten bucks says this article gets nowhere near half the buzz all of this week's negative articles have gotten. "I'll be honest - I favor Nintendo over the other companies, though I'll never belittle the competition, 'just cause.'" ^This. I've never believed in the concept of hating on something I don't necessarily have as much interest in. I've criticized products from my favorites as well as other publishers/manufacturers and have praised them as well. I love Nintendo games, but I like other ones too. I wouldn't be a proud PS3 owner if I felt otherwise. I wouldn't want to get a Vita at some point in the future either. What I DON'T like is when people not only incessantly hate on things they don't enjoy as much as others but even become toward insulting toward the people who support them. And I'm not talking about people who come up with valid criticisms and choose not to buy a certain product (such as lacking in software interest for, say, the Wii U or even the Vita). That's completely reasonable. But there are plenty of times where it really gets out of control, especially in N4G's community.
I dont get the hating as well, people bash on each other like they are the complete opposite of who they are, just because they play on a different platform. Funny thing is that they arent so different, most do enjoy the same multiplatform games, you'll see two fanboys hating on each other while they both for example might love bioshock. So yeah dont get the hating, but i do get why some people get pissed when they see some fanboy bashing on their favorite console/platform, which is most of the time comming from some ignorant and hypocritical fool that doesnt know what he's talking about. Personally i like all the major platforms and their games, i have a 360, a pc, a 3DS and an xperia play(psp phone kinda) But i dont see me buying a wii U though.. I've disliked the whole tablet controller idea ever since it was an announced on the E3. But that might change if their are some good games out for it like super smash bros.
Can't agree more with you. That kind of immature comments are made by little kids,or people that think as if they were. Hating a company or their consoles just because of yes is a childish act. Why can't people simply enjoy the games they like, and respect others when their tastes don't match yours? Maybe I'm asking too much, but a man can dream... :)
Just waiting on that certain Sony fangirl to show up any second now...
Here i am! I see you managed to find an article sadly attempting to raise the morale of the few suckers that ran out and bought this failed attempt of a console. Just trollin, just trollin.
Why do u care so much?
Agree where is she ?
im a sony fangirl... is that me oni-chan? ^_^
I suppose I could be called a Sony fanboy, but I want the WiiU to succeed. Competition is always healthy and good for the consumer.
Everything is doomed...you're doomed, I'm doomed, were all doomed I tell you. ........doomed.
Here's why, it's only three months old and none of the big system sellers are there yet. I find it weird how so many people claim to be gamers yet they will jump the gun and say anything new is doomed and most of the time be glad about it. PS3 wasn't doomed, 3DS wasn't doomed, Vita is slowly turning things around as is the Wii U. Now get ready for the PS4/720 is doomed articles at the end of the year!
wii u is not doomed, it will be fine, i wonder how many sony and microsoft are doomed articles we will see here, in there first 3 months of release, and they don't live up to expectations, you won't see any especially from TRASH COMPACHTOR, SONY'S MOUTH PIECE... nintendo will have the last laugh.
Wii U is here to mother____ing stay.
this is a stupid post based on guesses that make zero sense
it will be if they dont get some good games soon, and i even might sell mine.
The ps3 fanboys are getting out of control on this website.
Love how the author says the WiiU sold twice as many units as the 360 in it's first 6 weeks but fails to mention how poorly it's sold the last six weeks, which is the primary cause for all the doom articles. You can get mad all day about doom articles but it's all Nintendo's fault. This thing has all but died at retail and N wont be able to duplicate the success of the Wii without another new gimmick..
Its sold nearly 3.5 million with a month and a half and 3 top tier games in LegoCity/MonsterHunter/NFS ect i'm sure 500,000 is possible worlwide in say 6 weeks.
Right here is the problem first 6 months to a yr is the hardcore system crowd, this are the people that buy it even when the library isn't anything impressive. Why else would the na sales drop like a stone in january, because the hardcore nintendo crowd got their console already. You might see a bump in february to march with people getting income tax returns but that's it, for the time being. I'll get 5 or 10 disagrees for this statement but, no one else really wants it others than you big time nintendo fans atm. Everything about the console screams poorly planned and poor chosen target audience. The wii crowd, they are long gone, that leaves you nintendo fans and the ps3/360/pc crowd, whom you like to refer to as graphic whores. The wiiu, is designed to compete in the continuing generation from 8 yrs ago. Ps3 and 360 gamers already have a current gen system, other than nintendo exclusives and the gamepad the wiiu is not a improvement for them. Ps3 and 360 gamers want the next gen consoles(ps4/720) and the wiiu does not qualify as a next gen system to them, regardless of however it is technically defined as. "Because Nintendo still have a rather large consumer base" And i gave a disagree specifically for this. I would put the true nintendo costumer fan base at about 25-30 million roughly(that is being generous). The rest are either families buying for kids or sony or ms fans looking for a secondary console. I don't think the wiiu is doomed, but i would guess gamecube numbers with a slightly better lineup. Maybe 40-45 million, maybe less. ""It's one thing to disagree, but the hit and run, anonymous disagree that pretty much everyone knows are based in ugly fanboyism is just pathetic." Right look at how hostile you nintendo fans are to anyone who might remotely criticises the wiiu. And you people want a person to ignore all that just to get what, called a sony fanboy, a hater, a graphics whore. Why the fuck should anyone bother, you'll bitch about the fanboys, but ignore when your own side acts like fanboys. Then complain that only disgusting fanboys leave anonymous disagrees. @inthelab Beating your head against a brick wall might be more productive, than trying to argue that point with some nintendo fans. @link try 6 months worldwide, it's does not the same appeal that the wii did.
does every console have a "doom stage" in its early years? i dont get this doom and gloom articles, what are these for? sorry for askin just new here in n4g only a weeks ^_^
Yeah in 2007, it was nothing but doom and gloom articles for the ps3. It doesn't help that nintendo designed the system for a particular group( it 's not even nintendo fans) and the rest of the industry is basically moving in the opposite direction.
I challenge anyone to show me numbers that show PS360 did better in the first four months than Wii U. I have asked that before and posted links to show that all of this doom and gloom crap is just that, CRAP. I Think most of those articles are written by pure fanboys. As stated in this article, the Wii U has 2X to 3X sales of past gen launch. Of coarse with the exception of Wii of coarse Sure Nintendo is not selling what they expected, but that will change. Watch the other 2 next gen systems numbers and compare them to Wii U's sales at 4 months. Dreamcast had a RECORD breaking launch, best system that gen and look how long that lasted. Nintendo also launched Wii with a Zelda title along with it.
Wow an article that not about the Wii U being doomed. Good on ya. lol
