New Rock Band DLC Songs End on April 2nd, “We Don’t Have Any New Rock Band Titles in Development”

It will be one of those events you remember for awhile as April 2nd, 2013 will mark the final day that the Rock Band series is scheduled to receive any brand new DLC songs. This news ends the current consecutive streak of 275 weeks releasing new songs, with the series now at over 4,000 songs.

Wait, they were still releasing these? Wow, I wonder if anyone actually bought all of them.... that's a lot of money....
TrendyGamers  +   428d ago
It's only a few thousand dollars if you got them all.

I know that I've spent over a grand on the music games genre, and even purchased songs that I thought were cool but never even ended up playing. Luckily I got out of it a few years ago.

If you average each downloadable song to be $1.99 (Some more, some less after free songs, discount packs, etc.) then yes, that's about $8000 in songs for your Rock Band library. I know people who haven't even pirated that much music....

I called home on Christmas and the family was playing this, but it was the first time anyone had gotten it out in a loooong time and I don't believe they've done so since then.

After I moved a year ago I put away the plastic instruments for good, but I can't believe that it's finally ending. It might be a surprise to some that it was still going after all these years, but to those that followed it on a weekly basis, it's shocking.

I'll have to pull out the mic or drums and give the game a final farewell on April 2nd. This is probably my most-played game series this gen, and I hope Harmonix creates something as fun and fresh with their new IPs.

I've bought/played all 3 Rock Band titles and loved each one.
Easily spent about $600 bucks on DLC across all 3, as well.

I hope they decide to create a new music game or a "Rock Band 4" when the next gen hits.

Harmonix said they are working on new games but they aren't going to announce anything right now.

Picked up Rocksmith for my PC..

Always loved the rockband games but Rocksmith is way more enjoyable.

I've been wanting to pick that up for my PS3.
Would love to continue learning my guitar.
But, I need to buy some new strings for it first.
