Destiny: too big to fail

EDGE: "Eerily similar previews for Bungie and Activision’s new multiplayer shooter appeared online yesterday evening. Destiny’s reveal was light on footage, short on details but long on promise and threat. Our visit to Bungie’s Bellevue studio was a glimpse into how games will be made in the next generation and beyond – not as games but as brands, as destinations, as hobbies in themselves; each one the only game you’ll ever need." (Destiny, Next-Gen, PS3, Xbox 360)

oh god.. activision is publishing this game?

in that case, it's a no buy for me. any other publisher, i may have considered it, but i won't give activision any of my money because of their lack of respect towards the PS3.

While I'm not a fan of Activision, I firmly believe in supporting GOOD games. If this turns out to be good, I'll be buying it. Not ALL (though most does) of the money goes to the publisher...

Lack of respect? If you are thinking of some of the poorer CoD ports thats the fault of the developer, not the publisher. Also you don't buy something to support that publisher, you do it to support the developer who in this case hired a lot of people just to work on the PS3 version of the game.

You're not going to buy the game because of who is publishing the game regardless of how good the game is?

Hmmm, I somehow doubt it.

Activision aren't so bad. No online pass for Call of duty! Something they easily could make a lot of money from.
I appreciate it when games with online don't have online passes, they annoy me :)

So psyched for this game and I'm not exactly sure why! It seems to be a Frankenstein's monster of games I've played hundreds of times before but there's something about it I can't put my finger on that's telling me it's something I haven't experienced before. Can't wait to see it in action.

I had never really paid any attention to this game until a few days ago. But it looks really good. I hope it turns out great

Duke Nukem, Dai Katana, Alien's, and Star Wars MMO amongst a few says hi. No such thing as too big to fail. So far Destiny sounds like a generic FPS game set in a persistent MMO world. They might want to release some actual news other than hype.

i really doubt it will fail..some Sony fans are waiting for a game from bungie so i guess it will still sell..and it is connected with activision so there will be a ton of advertisments on this game for sure...

Im sure there is alot of pressure on them (Bungie). Its one thing to create something that turns into a HUGE success.

Its another to create something that HAS to be a success because there is so much riding on it.

I guess we will see it for ourselves in time!
