Insomniac: Our reputation is built on crazy weapons

Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price believes the studio's reputation partly comes from the crazy weapons found in previous games. (Fuse, Insomniac Games, PS3, Ted Price, Xbox 360)

I can't wait to try this game!!

"Crazy weapons" is becoming their gimmick, and it's not enough to make up for the lack passion and inspiration that's very apparent in their games now

well it seems there are only 4 crazy weapons in Fuse, so they are kinda lacking in that department too.
Root  +   526d ago
Agreed, it's like they think thats what they are known for when it's not just that

It's the fun styled games where they've put all their work and effort into.

EA is going to kill them, they've already started after what they did to Overstrike...and it was EA, there is no way Insomniac would do something like this, bland and generic looking after the fun, bright style they showed us first.

"Do you like death? Good. Because Mr. Zurkon is here to kill you!"

Seriously: I like the crazy weapons, because Insomniac is good at them. I've had other issues with them in the past about some of their online, huge patches (from pushing games out too early) and lack of post launch support because the next project automatically takes up all resources.

Look at FFA... we're still waiting on the Vita version. I know it's another studio doing the Vita version, but they could have released at the same time, or got more involved to make sure the product was done on time.

Same , insomniac has never disappointed me

They have to me. With resistance 2. Damn it.

^^ Same

Coming off of Fall of Man, R2 was a total let down for me.

I thought R2 was pretty awesome. I spent many hours on the online mode alone and almost got the 10,000 kills trophy, but the community kind of died down a bit and I wasn't able to get it. :(

I think R2 unfairly got a bad rep for a few of the design choices, and it seemed like the atmosphere wasn't as dark or serious as FOM. And, it was a little to colorful for my taste, but the game was solid and the gameplay was on point, had some great set pieces (the Leviathan comes to mind) and intense shot outs, and the scale of the game was awesome. Only my opinion of course, but I thought it was a great game.

Reputation should be focused on Pixar like graphics...
Ducky  +   526d ago
... because Resistance just screamed pixar? O.o
BitbyDeath  +   526d ago
Forget Resistance, go play Ratchet and Clank
BigStef71  +   526d ago
Resistance had a compelling story and was serious
Ducky  +   526d ago
You can't just 'forget' an entire series.
Resistance has undoubtedly had an impact on Insomniac's reputation, and they have shown that they can do more than just a visual style.

The crazy weaponry, however, has been a constant element in their recent games.

They have crazy weapons in the R&C franchise too.
Insomniac should focus on what they are best at and that is Pixar graphics.

They don't have to just keep making R&C games but they shouldn't stray from what makes them unique.

To be fair i have enjoyed most of their games so i will be giving this one a shot too, if they want to try and reach a bigger audiance then i say go for it, i have faith they will make an enjoyable game.

To me their reputation was always based on their creativity and humor. They lost a lot of that when they jumped from PS2 to PS3, and i generally disliked the Resistance games. They didn't feel very original imo.
Silly gameAr  +   526d ago
Yeah, Insomniac has always had crazy, creative weapons in their games.

I use to think "creativity" whenever I hear Insomniac. It's been replace with meh...
