Activision Loses Rights to James Bond game License

"Today, we can confirm, via unnamed but reliable sources, that Activision's license to publish video and PC games based on the James Bond series has indeed expired, which is why the PC games were removed from those download stores. Our sources had no information on if a new game publisher has been brought in to tell future virtual adventures of 007." - John Callaham

Good. Now let's get it to a competent publisher this time.

That's a shame they lost. Guess they should get to work on the next 25 CoD games.

Should we blame Activision though or the one who was developing it ever since The World is Not Enough after Goldeneye(Which Rare made)? Eurocom made the 007 games in a nutshell and all of those 007 games from then-on were just mediocre. Whilst Rare then made Perfect Dark which again was a giant success FPS-wise for N64.

Who is actually capable of making a good 007 game? The only REAL good one was made by Rare and they're basically dead or all but making Kinect garbage.

So now it's just Nintendo and Microsoft who have the rights.

Zodiac1615d ago

oh, yeah. They own the rights to Golden Eye, not Bond in general. Fail on my part.

FlyingFoxy1615d ago

Well there is Goldeneye Source, but it's a fan made mod.. and not 100% the same as the 64 game, has some little differences.
