What’s the Best Zelda Song… Ever?

ZI: When I'm not writing video game news, I'm a part-time musician, and recently joined up with a new band that's forming on the East Coast; a band that will play only metal, and only music inspired by the Zelda series. This meant that I had to go back through all the old games and look through the music, sit down, and really think about which songs from Zelda are... well... the best—the ones that are truly good songs.

This is hard for me, because as most of you likely know, there are a lot of emotions wrapped up with each and every single song in the Zelda series, memories of long nights and entire weekends spent with a controller in hand, lost in the land of Hyrule. I have a hard time completely divorcing myself from those emotions and viewing the music completely objectively, but that's what I've attempted to do in this article.

So I've narrowed down the entire list of Zelda songs to three entries; and I'm certain you will have your own opinions, but these are mine. (3DS, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Retro, The Legend of Zelda, Wii)

So many in OoT. Song of Storms is nice. At certain times any one of 5-6 songs from that game could be the best in the series.

I have quite a few, but most of them are variations of some type from Zelda:OoT.

I almost loved every soundtrack in OoT.
I unf. haven't played Wind walker and Skyward Sword yet.. but it's on my list!

Song of storms, Song of Time, New Wave Bossa Nova, and Ballad of Gales were my absolute favorites.

I like Gerudo Valley a lot. Ballad of the Goddess was really good too.

The song inside the Temple of time, or Bango-Bango drumming, or the guitar session with the Zora in Majoras Mask.... It's a tough call

There's so many awesome songs/themes in the Zelda series. Here's a few of mine:

The Forest Temple theme from OoT. I love how eerie that music was. It was almost like something you couldn't see was messing with you. Slowly getting closer and closer, only to fade away temporarily and come back.

Wind Waker's Great Sea music. Loved the adventurous tone it had.

Clock Town theme from Majora's Mask. This always pops into my head when I think of MM.

Dungeons in the NES version.. LOZ 1 & 2

(I'm not generally a Zelda fan, give me Banjo Kazooie over it any day but:)

Outset Island from The Wind Waker:

So wonderfully pastoral.

Which is itself a kind of reworking of:
