Insomniac: Efficiency Is Vital Going Into Next-Gen

Dave Cook: ''Fuse developer Insomniac Games created a brand-new engine for its cover-based squad shooter. It’s a move that will help the studio create assets more efficiently and quickly, something that CEO Ted Price has told us will be vital going into next-gen development.

At a recent EA showcase event, I asked Price for the studio’s decision to make a new engine for Fuse, and asked if using DICE’s Frostbite engine was ever an option, given that the game is being published by EA.'' (Fuse, Insomniac Games, Next-Gen, PS3, Ted Price, Xbox 360)

EA need to get their act together with NFS first than worrying about "FUSE" NFS "HOTPURSUIT" did not come through as criterion games hoped for.

Hope they are able to build a HD engine this time.

R3 has some of the worst IQ ever in a exclusive.

The game looked good. It was just hindered by the sub HD resolution.

If no one buys the game whats the point?

It's not out yet but it seems people are not willing to give it a chance for whatever reason. Not sure why other than maybe Sony loyalists feel betrayed or they have so much hate against EA it clouds their judgement.

“Frostbite’s a great engine, no question about it, but as a company we have placed a lot of value in developing our own tech, because it gives us more creative opportunities in terms of how we support our games. We’re not locked in to another company’s constraints.”

Right from the horse's mouth, so we need to put it to rest how much control EA has on the title. There is no proof of some far-fetched idea that because Fuse looks different than the concept art of Overstrike that it must be all EA's fault. I mean they changed the look of Cole in infamous 2, should we now hate Sony? Ridiculous.

We'd be willing to give it a chance if it didn't look so absolutely bland. :/

I personally havent been looking at the game because it doesn't look fun at all. Nothing about the FUSE even has me mildly interested in playing it. I could careless if EA is publishing I don't have negative feelings about them at all or Insomniac I just think the game looks and feels very generic as a whole.

Fair enough, and I think shooter games need to try and stand out more from the rest of the pack since there are so many now.
