USA Network Exec Jesse Redniss Explains How New Game Engages Psych Fans (Q&A)

USA Network is offering a new way for fans of its TV series, Psych, to interact with show stars James Roday, Dulé Hill and Kirsten Nelson. The network has partnered with technology companies 30 Ninjas, SocialSamba and Theatrics.com and creative agency Ralph to create PSYCH The S#cial Sector, a new eight-week multiplatform murder mystery launching February 15. Building on the success of the Emmy-nominated, fan favorite HashTag Killer, SocialSector.usanetwork.com centers around an online reality competition in which contestants are sequestered in an unknown location and one contestant is voted off each week.

Players will interact with series stars as digital assistants and help solve the case through a series of real-time communications, mini-games, crowding-sourcing challenges and an interactive Fan Theory Board where fans can post video responses to weekly challenges. This new cross between game and interactive story can be played across laptops, smartphones and tablets. Jesse Redniss, senior vice president, Digital, USA Network, explains why games are a vital way to connecting with fans in this exclusive interview. (Mobile, PC, Psych)
