Dual Shock 4 leak "genuine"

EuroGamer - Destructoid's PlayStation 4 controller image leak is more significant than overnight reports have suggested. Our sources confirm that what you're actually looking at is a complete Orbis dev kit - our first look at what we believe is advanced development hardware. The Dual Shock 4 prototype itself is a significant leap beyond its predecessor, featuring a two-point touchpad interface and, in addition, a built-in loudspeaker and what we understand to be integrated PlayStation Move functionality.

The dev kit itself is a big old beast, but that's nothing new. The development versions of Sony hardware are historically rather immense compared to the production systems, as you can see from these shots of PS3 dev kits. Indeed, the Orbis kit looks surprisingly svelte by comparison. (PS4)

It definitely looks to be real.

I'm not a fan of the look, but i can tell just by looking at it, that it'll be really comfortable to hold. For Me.

Just a prototype so no need to worry about the look atm.

I am excited to see the final version of this controller, as I still feel the prototype needs a bit of polishing. so excited just over the controller, let a lone the console :(

the second picture of the controller seems to be different in shape (as in less bulkier) i think the end design has yet to be finalised but the idea is certainly firm in place. one question i think we should be asking is weather or not the screen, the light strip on the font and the possible back touch pad will have an affect on the battery life and if so how much.

It's exactly the same as the first picture. It's just from a different angle that's why it appears less bulky. I actually like the look, though. The controller also looks really comfortable to hold

I hope they package a headset with the console considering there is a sound jack in the controller. Hopefully it is a microphone jack?

The PS3 is so quiet compared to 360 (in terms of people talking online), and I can't help but feel that a big part of it is how the 360 had a headset shipped with it. I love the social aspect of gaming, bring out more people talking! Even if a few more annoying little kids surface up, can always mute them.

Not to mention, while there are some nice Bluetooth dongles, the majority of them sound like total ear screeching trash on the PS3

Microsoft doesn't give headsets away with a 360 anymore. Aside from that, I have no problem hearing people with my headset.

It all depends on the headset you buy. There are a ton of cheap headsets out there that range from $10-$30 and I wouldn't buy any of them. They probably cost $1 to make and those are the kinds of headsets that have issues hearing people while playing.

The Turtle Beach headsets range from budget to expensive, but they're all pretty high quality. The P11 is a good USB headset and is usable on both the PS3 and the PC. Sony has the Pulse and Pulse Elite and there's many other brands.

You'll spend a bit more if you want wireless, but the cheaper versions have fairly long cords. The P11 cord is 12'.

At first was not keen on design, yes its a prototype I know. The more I see it the more I like it. Has some great features as well, putting a mic as well as audio in is important because with the PS Eye mic there is echo from my tv but when I play with headphones no echo.
KyRo  +   1087d ago
You do know you can stop the echo right?

Off the top of my head: Go Into settings > accessory settings > go to the mic section and when you select the PS camera it should come up with the option to press square or triangle for some options for stopping the echo.

It basically asks you to put the camera next your TV, turn the volume up loud and it plays a really high frequency that stops the echo.

Google it if you can't find the option :)

Already done this, but my mate uses his PS Eye online so maybe its just him that's making it echo now lol
PersonMan  +   1088d ago
I don't like it. They should keep the current design.
Blacktric  +   1087d ago
If I were you, I'd just want Sony to give the option to people who like DualShock 3 to use it with PS4, rather than asking them to limit everyone to another DS 3 style controller. With the former, everyone wins. You get to use DualShock 3, others get to use the new controller.

That's a nice looking controller. A lot of cool features. Will it still have rumble?
CommonSenseGamer  +   1088d ago
Using your thumbs on the touchpad looks like it could be a little cumbersome as the dualshock controllers would impede easy access. Especially comfortably reaching the centre of the touchpad.
MasterCornholio  +   1087d ago
Well if the rumors are true you can use the DS3 with the PS4 instead of the DS4 controller.
Omeganex9999  +   1087d ago
The idea of the central touchpad sounded stupid to me until I tried while holding my DS3. It'll be awesome!
BitbyDeath  +   1087d ago
So was that just more guesses cause they seemed to make a lot of assumptions and try pass them off as fact? How do you know of some things but not everything if you really have used it before?

Gotta call BS on this one.

EDIT: Also the move part doesn't make sense cause that is already built into the PS3 controller except they call it Six-axis and it doesn't look like this one is able to split in two to truly replicate the move functionality.
