Why The New PS4 Controller Design Is A Worthy Successor To DualShock 3

It seems that Sony have learned their lessons from the DualShock 3 controller. Judging closely, the new controller looks like a worthy successor to DualShock 3 in the following ways:

Someone needs to pay for leaking this info....im talking jail time

TheGamerDood1227d ago

Damn you that's harsh. lol

awesomeperson1226d ago

This leak seems to have come in a very timely manner. It has managed to generate even greater hype, articles, and speculation which all build to the announcement on the 20th. It seems to have acted as a minor viral advertisement for Sony's big event.

I always do question how many leaks are intentional. Either way - there is so much hype surrounding the reveal that I really hope Sony do show some amazing stuff.

ApolloTheBoss1226d ago

Not that serious, man lol.

Sharius1226d ago

it is just me or i really think it was sony who leak those picture out

stage881226d ago

So Sony leak the prototype controller and you want them to go to jail for that?

GribbleGrunger1226d ago

... and national service for those who read it!

Army_of_Darkness1226d ago

Relax guy, it's just a prototype controller leak, lol! no need to go all judge Dred on us.

Thatguy-3101226d ago

Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if sony themselves did it on purpose to create more hype. For example on valentine day that bulky prototype was "leaked" then the next day a more updated version was leaked too. Honestly I think they did it to see the crowds reaction.

SilentNegotiator1226d ago

It happens every time with Playstation stuff. I'm starting to think that it's probably intentional.

I dont really see how the move improves gameplay necessarily, to me it just made tasks I could easily perform with a controller more complex.

I suppose it is good for a few motion focused niche games but motion controls are not the future or at least they are not advanced enough to give us the control range equal to a controller.

What SONY should really look at is that VR headset John Carmack is developing, now that has some practical use in that it intensifies the immersion.

poopsack1226d ago

The move was built with custom game modes in mind, things that require great precision, like Tumble. Instead it was used greatly to replace regular controls, because its less of an investment. Also John Carmack isnt developing the Oculus Rift. He just thinks its something to look into.

Sony is currently developing their own VR headset.

A few companies are actually taking VR headsets very seriously.

I like the move integration and touch pad you get what the hardcore want and what the casual want in one (at most likely if Sony is smart around the same price of a normal dual shock) not having to buy extra for the crowd that likes motion/touch control is a very smart (playstation)move ;)

ShugaCane1226d ago

Sony has always provided the best controllers (in my opinion). I'm looking forward to seeing this one's particularities.

cleverusername1226d ago

Lighter isn't better imo, I'd rather they kept it as it is!

EditorAtGNG1226d ago

I am sorry, but that's just ugly in my eyes. It might feel great to hold and play but that square in the middle is just... wrong.

yess1226d ago (Edited 1226d ago )

But most of the time you will be staring at the tv screen, so i think you can live with it.

Buuhan11225d ago

Wait, you just said you don't care if it feels and plays great if it's ugly looking?

You DO know what a video game controller is suppose to be, right?
