nintendo normally misses all big game shows yearly except for e3 because the truth is they dont have much to show. im not trying to be funny or anything but i understand fanboys get upset over anything other showering praises for their favourite company.
nintendo to me are a joke and insignificant because they want to be separate from other games companies and seem like they are above them. nintendo directs are unnecessary and i know the fanboys love them but thats it, its for fanboys. a lot of casual gamers harcore gamers and others knows about e3 and a few other shows so they might tune in to a streamed broadcast or look up what happened if they are interested. nintendo directs are for fanboys and arent interesting to anyone else so most news out of them goes unheard by people that are generally gamers.
e3,gamescom, pax, comic con,tgs and a few others are announced a year in advance but i see nintendo directs announced a few days or a day before the actual event. thats just silly and shows that nintendo are catering only to their diehard fanboys who will run to their every cough and that isnt good for other gamers.
That's ridiculous. Nintendo is more secretive than Microsoft and Sony, and they like to do things their own way; but that doesn't mean they don't have "much to show".
The fact that they are announcing *multiple games* in each of these addresses show the exact opposite.
Simply because they don't want to show off everything in one event that will be filled with competition and the possibility of certain games going by the way side, what Nintendo is doing is actually giving more exposure to all of their games.
Saying Nintendo is a joke to you, insignificant, and that they have nothing to show is not you being 'honest' against fanboys; it's you being a fanboy.
Nintendo is trying to bring awareness to their platforms. Nothing wrong with that. What I have issues with are showing games too early and giving false hope. I like to see actual gameplay, not mocked up trailers. I also like to see firm release dates and not just guesses.
Nintendo wants to be more open and I think they have to be if they truly want to bring back gamers who buy multiplat games on other platforms. They know they can't rely solely on just fans of Nintendo franchises. The Wii offered a unique experience and tapped into non-gamers. I don't see that happening with the Wii U so they need to be more aggressive with real gamers and Nintendo Direct is one way to try and get their attention.
That's just stupid. Nintendo has plenty to show. They've shown more in the last 6 months than all the others combined.
The difference in Nintendo is they are ball busters about protecting their investments from negative press. Nintendo wants total control over how their games are shown... you will notice that ALL Nintendo spokespeople use the same language... the exact same words in press briefings and Nintendo Directs. Nintendo is very conscious of this. It bugs the crap out of me, but it's how Nintendo does business.
the dilya girl sure is a very very jelous and evious fan-girl hoh hohh . .she will keep getting mangled for years by Nintendo and their unwilling dominance for many many MANY years to come . ha haaa
Not going to "kill" the press- to inoculate the masses from the Press Troll Virus. Yep, Nintendo does Nintendo Directs to try and empower themselves against the Media Machine.
They for once get to talk with a pure message before the fan-boy's in the Media add their Trolls or Biased Opinions to their news.
Since Sega and then the Playstation the press has sometimes openly mocked Nintendo- When the GameCube was announced, I saw reporters on TechTV/G4 go on a diss-spree against everything Nintendo.
So, this is a great idea- but it's not going to "kill" the press- it's just going to help inoculate the masses for the Press Troll Virus.
That's been the "cool" thing for a while. Frankly I think Nintendo's Direct conferences are a great way to relay information to fans and even just the general public. Hopefully Nintendo can approach other outlets like E3 and GDC in the same way this year.
ppl act like the Nin. directs are a new way of disseminating information lol All year around other companies talk about new games, projects etc... and then we have E3, Pax and such which just further cement these projects and reveal a few new ones. All Nintendo Directs are a few broadcasts every few months of compiled projects and information fro Nintendo consumers. Nothing new or diff from the status quo.
That's a gross underestimation of the Directs themselves. Other publishers issue press releases and that information gets out through outlets like IGN and Gametrailers. Nintendo's Directs are given directly to the general public, to you as a viewer completely unfiltered.
This is good for them because they can relay this information as they see fit instead of letting game "journalists" relay that information (and in some cases skew it) to others.
honestly i don't think they are their are one's like last months one which are a mini E3 but there ones like today's that were just a complete waste of time

EDIT: and i'm not berating Sony fans. just fanboyism in general.

Them get up on stage and announce a game like riiiiiiidddgeee racccerrrrr...'cricket' ;

Maybe you should stop complaining and start looking for a real job!
