Ted Price says Resistance was “brutally difficult to work on” & will “experiment with Ratchet”

OPM: Ted Price has admitted that Resistance was, “a brutally difficult game to work on at times”. He’s also spoken about the future of Ratchet & Clank saying that Insomniac want “to continue experimenting” in the future. After seeing more Gameplay of Fuse, the game looks good and worth taking a look at when it releases. When you get past the cover art and the name, I can see it being a worthy game from the Insomniac team.

It's not really just the cover art and the name is it....it's basicaly the style, gameplay, characters, mostly everything which makes the game.

It's just not Insomniac Games at all.

You can settle on an alright/average game from them but when they made Spyro, Ratchet and Clank and Resistance some top quality games, I don't really want to settle from average from them

I'm sure when people saw Resistance for the first time they thought the same thing. It turned out to be a fun game. You don't want to give Fuse a chance for two glaringly obvious reasons. One is they are working with EA and the other is they are not working with Sony and making it exclusive.

So how can a game be average that hasn't been released yet? You can't judge a book by it's cover but it seems that's just in your nature to do.

@MikeMyers did you not just judge ROOT by one comment?
This game is made for EA to appeal to xbox gamers. Insomniac know we want R&C.. Insomniac just hustling right now they will be back.

Yeah, since they have experience with FPS games now (R1-3), I think we'll see something interesting from them w/ Fuse .
cgoodno  +   523d ago
I'm not so sold on it. If it turns out like Borderlands where you can play solo and with a group, it will be better. Otherwise, it's going to knee-cap itself in regards to potential and market audience.

to me the gameplay for Fuse reminds me of the co-op from R2. which was a lot of fun to play. but now its in 3rd person with less people. maybe only because of that shield the guy uses. idk but not gonna judge until i try for myself.

Horrible flamebait title is horrible flamebait title.

The full quote is: A brutally difficult game to work on at times but so is every franchise we create.

Meaning: All games have their difficult periods. All of them. Not just Resistance.

Man i love Resistance and didnt have a problem with any of them. Sad to see that for now it is shelved, hopefully it gets picked up again for Ps4.

Shame. Playing co-op through Res 3 with a buddy was good fun.

Lost all respect for this guy after playing Resistance 2...

The first was a glorious introduction to the current generation and then it was let down by its successors, especially Resistance 2.
jukins  +   523d ago
Yea Res 1 was an amazing launch title good graphics gameplay and story huge battfields filled with tons of enemies and let's not forget was it 30 vs 30 online? But like you said the 2nd was a very frustrating trial and error experience. And the 3rd seemed thrown together and a technical mess. I wonder what made them stray so far Away from the first successful title in the series
Eldyraen  +   523d ago
My main issue was each game deviated a little too much from the others. I have no clue why and individually speaking they were all still enjoyable but consistancy wasn't there when it came to core game mechanics (health and loadout especially).
lovegames718  +   523d ago
Dont know what your talking about Res. 3 sp was easily the best out of all but we all have our opinions.

I would love a traditional R&C game for the ps4.

Good job Ted, stay classy as always
chrispseuphoria  +   523d ago
A free roam game massive in scope with the traditional gameplay of Ratchet and Clank would be amazing on the PS4.

I believe Sony would at least try to convince Insomniac to develop Resistance 4 for the PS4.
fei-hung  +   523d ago
No I think Sony will have someone develop it. Maybe GG since they know how to do FOS really well or maybe commission someone like Ready at Dawn.

As for Fuse, we will just have to wait and see.
Nate-Dog  +   523d ago
Oh great, more poor and pointless Ratchet & Clank games, just end the series already it has been such a long time since a decent Ratchet & Clank game that actually stood out for good reasons was made.
chukamachine  +   522d ago
Only want Resistance 4 for PS4.

Don't care now whether or not they make it.
Skate-AK  +   522d ago
He should have said what made it difficult. I can say the ending of R3 made me rage.
