Is Call of Duty’s Prestige System Outdated?

GamersBliss.com writes: "Call of Duty… by just saying this title out loud Activision will have made 60 dollars. How many dollar signs does a company need to help change a game and push it to new heights. Activision has taken the “if it’s not broke don’t fix it route”, and just like the titles before it (Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero) eventually it will break down." (Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox 720)

The whole series is outdated at this point.

Damn. I was about to say that.

Outdated is putting it very lightly. Outlived or existed is more to the principle.

Not really. It works well for COD. Its one of those games where its still fun to level up and re-unlock everything.

Games can get a little boring when you unlock everything and having the option to do that all over again is nice :)

that still gets a little redundant after a while tho...

Agreed. When you get to the point where all you do is kill, it can get pretty dull. Unlocking things is fun. Still though. The developers should do something to keep the system feeling fresh and new after each installment, and we all that probably won't happen in any major way.

Call Of Duty as a whole is outdated. Shame because the first few games were so good. It's like they are not even trying anymore. They are just pushing them out like nothing for profit.

It's been outdated for years, but why update something that sells well?

I'm sick of the COD series as well, but people keep buying it they won't stop making it (I mean they won't stop copy/pasting it).

All CoD needs is dedicated servers and a CoD ONLINE ONLY game, it'll be played for ages to come.

I know it, they know it, you know it, we all know it.

I'm sure people with disagree, but whatever. Cod is terrible if your a hardcore gamer. There is no strategy, teamwork or thinking involved. Anyone can go 20-3 at least once in their cod career. So no cod's rank system isn't outdated because all people care about is themselves and getting the next unlock. Question to all, can any of you play a game for more than two years? (Shooter)

I think prestige system is horribly outdated.

Halo 4 for instance allows me to carry on levelling up after unlocking everything while keeping everything I have already earned. Yet I'm still being rewarded with little extra's like new gun camo etc.

There needs to be an incentive for me to carry on playing without unlocking everything all over again, otherwise me and other people just see it as a redundant purpose.
