Surface Pro Can Run Diablo III, Portal 2, Other AAA Games - Why Isn't Microsoft Evangelizing This?

Forbes - Since Microsoft‘s Surface Pro launched, I’ve engaged in fascinating discussions with my Twitter followers about its capabilities. In doing so, I’ve identified what could be an important area of opportunity for Microsoft’s marketing department: They need to play up the fact that this tablet/ultrabook hybrid is quite adept at running a wide range of AAA video games.

The story is too old to be commented.

Because Microsoft are selling/advertising the surface pro as a productive tool and not a gaming tablet.

Microsoft are about much more that just games, it's time that was remembered by the gamer community.

It's not all about us guys.

it would get too hot if you used it for gaming. it wasn't designed for gaming. i read it gets very hot even when you aren't using these games on it.

How much is it? It may not be designed for games but i am sure someone will develop something to combat the heat. It would be great though limited gaming. The new mobile razors upper end model is $1300, which is quite a pretty penny for mobile pc gaming.

Costs $899 and Civ 5 looks stunning on it and its optimized for touch controls, of course if you want you could always use an xbox 360 controller and have an amazing experience while on a plane, train, long car ride, etc.

Surface pro does to have a heating problem. It is very well ventilated. It runs those games @ 1080P. It also has HDMI, USB 3.0 and SDCX ports. It is actually a really good PC that can be used as a Tablet. M$ is targeting productive people with this, people who don't want to carry a Laptop and an ipad at the same time. It can run any thing you can on your Win7 PC.

Not focusing on gaming will kill windows for Microsoft. I'm already seeing casual users give up windows for iOS or android.

maelstromb1390d ago

I don't think that's true at all. Casual gamers are just that, casual, and they will always be just that, IE. They will go wherever they can to grab quick thrills on the cheap with very little care for brand loyalty. It's the hardcore PC gamers that have kept PC gaming afloat and viable, despite years of critics decrying it as a waning medium. And fortunately, it will be those same enthusiasts, like me, that carry it forward proudly into the future.

But to get back to your first statement, "not focusing on gaming will kill windows for MS"--Windows still remains at the top as the most easily accessible and widest supported OS for the PC market, alongside other alternatives. So unless we start to see a dramatic shift in support from game developers and publishers over this next generation, I highly doubt what you're insinuating will ever come to pass.

pc gamers could very well switch to linux if valve has their way, it might take awhile but I can see it happening if Microsoft doesnt smarten up.
