Sucks but happens all the time.
DoomeDx  +   95d ago
Well its better then GTA V's delay..

Atleast they got more time to make this game even better!

Cant wait! Blow me away ND!
Shanks  +   95d ago
ONLY ONE DAY AFTER E3.
WTF SONY.
thorstein  +   95d ago
No kidding. Delay it a few weeks so the title is working the way they want it to? No problem on this end.
guitarded77  +   95d ago
Hmm... didn't think about the E3 thing. maybe they have some bonus surprise to announce at E3 (1 day before the game goes on sale). Sony always has an immediate gratification announcement at E3.
miyamoto  +   95d ago
Sony needs to give their exclusives breathing room...now they are learning

I doubt a month is making any difference they probably just wanted a further release date, all this "extra polishing" is pure BS
ABizzel1  +   95d ago
Sad, but that just means it can be an early birthday present for me :D

@Shanks

I always thought it would be a great idea to release a game right after E3, especially one that has garnered as much hype as TLOU. An amazing showing at E3 and a release as soon as it's over should have the hype at an all time high as well, and spur more sales Day 1.

That only downside to it this time is that the PS4 will be the main focus on E3, so it may very well take away from TLOU showing.

E3 will have PS3, PSVita, and PS4 as the focus for Sony. Seems like a 2 hour conference or longer from them.
Sarcasm  +   95d ago
Oh well, still buying it either way. If it ends up being one of the last great PS3 games then I'm sure its going to be one hell of a send off.
DOMination-  +   95d ago
99% of people who buy video games will not have heard of e3. I don't think the clash will have any effect.
subtenko  +   95d ago
Outrage! I demand The Last of Us to be free on PS+ now! lol, well I'm still getting it. Would be cool if we have some cool ps+ bonuses too tho, like extra maps, skins, etc.
RuperttheBear  +   95d ago
@DOMination

Do you seriously believe that gamers, people who buy video games regularly and read all the gaming news, such as ourselves, are in such a minority as to be 1% of everyone who buys video games?

I think you'll find that we make for a bigger audience than you might believe.
Pope_Kaz_Hirai_II  +   95d ago
Bad news but its out at E3 time so cant wait for June.
NukaCola  +   95d ago
GTA V and TLOU delayed

Gives breathing room for Remember Me, so the devs should feel good about that.
Monkeycan8  +   95d ago
Seems I forgot about Remember me... >.>
zebramocha  +   95d ago
The last of us more like the sad of us :(
KwietStorm  +   95d ago
Doesn't Remember Me come out in June?
AngelicIceDiamond  +   95d ago
Well, look on the bright side. More pre-orders will be taken in with the delay.

PSblog:
It's easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made ;-)

Btw Jak 1 had a 20 hours campaign
HOLY SH___
DaReapa  +   95d ago
I couldn't have been happier when I read that blog entry. Just to piggyback off your post, here's an extension of that statement for those who missed the official announcement...

"The Last of Us is an ambitious project. In many ways it may be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious project to date – brand new universe and cast of characters, brand new tech, brand new genre, not to mention it’s easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made.

As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realize just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards"

-Neil Druckmann // Creative Director, Naughty Dog

Music to my ears.

Thank you for that :D Always love a good, long, fleshed out campaign.
NobodyImportant  +   95d ago
As long as its fleshed out and not padded out.

I don't care how long it is as long as its quality not quantity.
RuperttheBear  +   95d ago
Yeah that's good news. As much as I loved the Uncharted series, they didn't take as long as I would have wanted to get through. That's not a knock on the series, it just means I enjoyed them so much I didn't want them to end.

For The Last of Us, a longer campaign only makes it more desirable. And the waiting for the game even harder.

damn. ah well. It'll be worth the wait :D
blackmamba707  +   95d ago

Outside_ofthe_Box  +   95d ago
lol yeah, but I'm kind of glad that it got delayed to June and GTAV too for that matter. First half of 2013 was getting too crowded. I'm glad my wallet can breathe a little lol.

And at least we know that this delay will mostly improve the game instead of go backwards. *cough *cough Aliens cough*
showtimefolks  +   95d ago
its the 1st time a ND game has been delayed, so i will give them the benefit of the doubt. Can't wait, just like may i think june is a killer time for this game. not a lot of competition and will give the media attention it deserves

but hold up so this game will come after the day E3 ends? i hope the announcements at E3 won't over shadow this game. I still remember the Infamous 2 launch around e3 which was a mess
GribbleGrunger  +   95d ago
ND have just announced that TLOU is going to be 'easily' the longest campaign they've 'ever' done! Bring it on!
Bar_Brothers  +   95d ago
Good now i can study
University is no easy shit, more games means less study.

uncharted56  +   95d ago
I feel your pain man. I have little social life, or time for games. Its uni, studying and work. FML
MidnytRain  +   95d ago
I don't understand people who post comments like these. Why not game instead of post?
trenso1  +   95d ago
@midnytrain cause maybe they found 10-20 of free time between studying and it would Benin my eyes pointless to play a game for 10-20 what could you accomplish I'm such a short time
Irishguy95  +   95d ago
Oh well - Study and..well..the first 5 months are ****ing packed.
Cocozero  +   95d ago
Right after E3, hopefully it won't be forgotten.
GuyManDude  +   95d ago
People aren't going to not buy a game just because "E3 happened". The people who actually watch/follow E3 already know about the game and are anticipating it. The people who don't follow E3 won't be affected because...they don't follow E3.
Fil101  +   95d ago
Not gonna happen, this game looks the dogs bollox and after the success of the uncharted series I can see this selling a shit load on release. Naughty dog are one of my fave devs this gen.
Silly gameAr  +   95d ago
Really? I seriously wonder how people like you have more then 2 bubbles.
Whitefeather  +   95d ago
Good, they can polish it and I can play something in the summer.
xBigxBossx  +   95d ago
Nnnnnnnnnooooooooooo! More polish never hurts though.
GusBricker  +   95d ago
Sony pushed it back...
...so they'd have extra time not to advertise it well.

GuyManDude  +   95d ago
Ha, normally I'd agree with you, but they pushed Uncharted 2 and 3 pretty hard in the ad department.

They always give a big push to their heavy hitters like God of War and Uncharted. Not so much for games like Starhawk and LittleBigPlanet Karting though which is a shame.

Nice avatar btw. RAMPAGE!!!

From the article
"As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realise just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. Learn to read bro.

Chillax my friend.
NonApplicable  +   95d ago
Is there a bubble down option for "Kill Joy"?
GribbleGrunger  +   95d ago
At least they've advertised it's delay. What more do you want?
Conzul  +   95d ago
You know those annoying little youtube popups that hit a few seconds into each video? I actually saw one just yesterday for The Last of Us.
CryofSilence  +   95d ago
Good. Now it's post-MCAT instead of pre-MCAT. It's a win-win; I don't have to wait so long, and it gets polished more.
WeAreLegion  +   95d ago
Good luck!
Crystallis  +   95d ago
Not a big deal to me. The next couple of months is packed with games. And who can complain when they are delaying it a month to touch up the quality.
jagstar44  +   95d ago
hope it doesn't go unnoticed under all the e3 craze and the fact people play less games in summer
jeremyj2913  +   95d ago
People don't play games less in the summer, major games just usually don't come out during the summer.
Sharp  +   95d ago
Take your time, shake the industry and show everyone how it's done.

Five weeks can do miracles if used purely for optimizing and polishing. The last 2-3 months is when the fps is being pushed up to 30 from 15-18fps for most of the graphically heavy scenes or areas of AAA games.

I'm surprised that it was such a small delay, though. It seems that these guys are really working their asses off. Not an easy business decision to make, but sometimes it has to be done...

Good luck ND! We are supporting you :)

It might get delayed again. It would be crazy if one of the most anticipated titles was released in July.
.
Take all the time you want Naughty dog.
Sniperwithacause  +   95d ago
My birthday. Now I have a real reason to take that day off of work.
ArmGunar  +   95d ago
So bad ... but it doesn't matter, that's just a month :P
Alcohog  +   95d ago
More time to pay off my Post Pandemic Edition.
jjb1981  +   95d ago
It's ok, I'd rather have a polished game then a buggy mess and besides its only 5 quick weeks which will be here before we know it.
Pintheshadows  +   95d ago
Excellent, a heavy hitter in the summer. Something to play while it rains.
jay2  +   95d ago
Oh POO!
Sackboy305  +   95d ago
Oh CRAP
but ok, i will wait... No, i must
Walker  +   95d ago
just one day after e3 ?!!! biggest e3 this years indeed !!! are they crazy ?!!! seriously ?!!!!
FoxHound_  +   95d ago
It sucks it had to happened but I totally understand. ND wasn't happy with something and if this delay means everyone gets an even better experience with TLOU than its worth the wait.
j-blaze  +   95d ago
i think it's because RE: Revelations and Remember Me are coming in May that's why they changed to June
Walker  +   95d ago
I'm LoLed !
jeremyj2913  +   95d ago
Very doubtful.
DigitalRaptor  +   95d ago
Ha! An HD remake and a barely known IP is what forced Sony's hand... You're just full of logic aren't you?
Hicken  +   95d ago
Is there some way we can BAN you from Naughty Dog news? I don't even want to see that you commented, so just ignoring you won't be enough.

On topic: this'll give people something to buy during the summer, which everyone always complains is devoid of games. As for me, I use that time to catch up(since I don't breeze through games like this new generation does) on all the games I will have gotten until then.
shadowgeist00  +   95d ago
ND must have killed your family off or something...
Soldierone  +   95d ago
Dangit, I'll hopefully be at E3. the 14th will be my day traveling back.... guess that gives me something to make me want to go home then lol
BLAKHOODe  +   95d ago
More time to play all the great games coming out in March.. Tomb Raider, God Of War (which is suppose to include a TLOU demo) and Gears Of War. Plus I haven't got Dead Space 3 yet.
Dread  +   95d ago
:(
redmon89  +   95d ago
delay must be for the multiplayer cause you already know the single player in the last of us is better than any game you have played in the last...probably ever.
ratcop22  +   95d ago
It least we still have that demo with Gow Ac!
pody  +   95d ago
It's worth it!
ziggurcat  +   95d ago
taking a bit of extra time to polish is never a bad thing.
ARIJayden  +   95d ago
Yes, sir. Also gives my wallet some breathing space.
Omar91  +   95d ago
Its sad but at the sometime great for me because my birthday is June 19th! early Bday present !
Sniperwithacause  +   95d ago
