Hmm... didn't think about the E3 thing. maybe they have some bonus surprise to announce at E3 (1 day before the game goes on sale). Sony always has an immediate gratification announcement at E3.
Sad, but that just means it can be an early birthday present for me :D
@Shanks
I always thought it would be a great idea to release a game right after E3, especially one that has garnered as much hype as TLOU. An amazing showing at E3 and a release as soon as it's over should have the hype at an all time high as well, and spur more sales Day 1.
That only downside to it this time is that the PS4 will be the main focus on E3, so it may very well take away from TLOU showing.
E3 will have PS3, PSVita, and PS4 as the focus for Sony. Seems like a 2 hour conference or longer from them.
Outrage! I demand The Last of Us to be free on PS+ now! lol, well I'm still getting it. Would be cool if we have some cool ps+ bonuses too tho, like extra maps, skins, etc.
Do you seriously believe that gamers, people who buy video games regularly and read all the gaming news, such as ourselves, are in such a minority as to be 1% of everyone who buys video games?
I think you'll find that we make for a bigger audience than you might believe.
I couldn't have been happier when I read that blog entry. Just to piggyback off your post, here's an extension of that statement for those who missed the official announcement...
"The Last of Us is an ambitious project. In many ways it may be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious project to date – brand new universe and cast of characters, brand new tech, brand new genre, not to mention it’s easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made.
As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realize just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards"
Yeah that's good news. As much as I loved the Uncharted series, they didn't take as long as I would have wanted to get through. That's not a knock on the series, it just means I enjoyed them so much I didn't want them to end.
For The Last of Us, a longer campaign only makes it more desirable. And the waiting for the game even harder.
lol yeah, but I'm kind of glad that it got delayed to June and GTAV too for that matter. First half of 2013 was getting too crowded. I'm glad my wallet can breathe a little lol.
its the 1st time a ND game has been delayed, so i will give them the benefit of the doubt. Can't wait, just like may i think june is a killer time for this game. not a lot of competition and will give the media attention it deserves
but hold up so this game will come after the day E3 ends? i hope the announcements at E3 won't over shadow this game. I still remember the Infamous 2 launch around e3 which was a mess
@midnytrain cause maybe they found 10-20 of free time between studying and it would Benin my eyes pointless to play a game for 10-20 what could you accomplish I'm such a short time
People aren't going to not buy a game just because "E3 happened". The people who actually watch/follow E3 already know about the game and are anticipating it. The people who don't follow E3 won't be affected because...they don't follow E3.
Not gonna happen, this game looks the dogs bollox and after the success of the uncharted series I can see this selling a shit load on release. Naughty dog are one of my fave devs this gen.
Ha, normally I'd agree with you, but they pushed Uncharted 2 and 3 pretty hard in the ad department.
They always give a big push to their heavy hitters like God of War and Uncharted. Not so much for games like Starhawk and LittleBigPlanet Karting though which is a shame.
From the article "As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realise just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is. Take your time, shake the industry and show everyone how it's done.
Five weeks can do miracles if used purely for optimizing and polishing. The last 2-3 months is when the fps is being pushed up to 30 from 15-18fps for most of the graphically heavy scenes or areas of AAA games.
I'm surprised that it was such a small delay, though. It seems that these guys are really working their asses off. Not an easy business decision to make, but sometimes it has to be done...
It sucks it had to happened but I totally understand. ND wasn't happy with something and if this delay means everyone gets an even better experience with TLOU than its worth the wait.
Is there some way we can BAN you from Naughty Dog news? I don't even want to see that you commented, so just ignoring you won't be enough.
On topic: this'll give people something to buy during the summer, which everyone always complains is devoid of games. As for me, I use that time to catch up(since I don't breeze through games like this new generation does) on all the games I will have gotten until then.
More time to play all the great games coming out in March.. Tomb Raider, God Of War (which is suppose to include a TLOU demo) and Gears Of War. Plus I haven't got Dead Space 3 yet.
delay must be for the multiplayer cause you already know the single player in the last of us is better than any game you have played in the last...probably ever.
Atleast they got more time to make this game even better!
Cant wait! Blow me away ND!
WTF SONY.

Gives breathing room for Remember Me, so the devs should feel good about that.
It's easily the longest campaign Naughty Dog has ever made ;-)
Btw Jak 1 had a 20 hours campaign
HOLY SH___

Music to my ears.
I don't care how long it is as long as its quality not quantity.
For The Last of Us, a longer campaign only makes it more desirable. And the waiting for the game even harder.
I'm going to play it now.

University is no easy shit, more games means less study.
...so they'd have extra time not to advertise it well.

Nice avatar btw. RAMPAGE!!!

Learn to read bro.
Chillax my friend.

Good luck ND! We are supporting you :)
edit: oops I meant Friday
.
Take all the time you want Naughty dog.
but ok, i will wait... No, i must
