Ryse Development Is "On Track", Says Crytek, But 2013 Release Uncertain

Edwin Evans-Thirlwell: ''We've seen and heard little of Crytek's classical fisticuffs sim Ryse since the game showed its face at E3 2011, and when I recently accosted Crytek's Cevat Yerli for details as to this most ambitious of Kinect projects, he was reluctant to give away much. Fans of Roman-punching can rest assured, however, that "development is tracking very well".

"We're are on track with all our plans," Yerli told OXM at a Crysis 3 event. "The game is really shaping up well, but that's pretty much all I can say at the moment." He was equally unwilling to be drawn on release dates. Asked whether Ryse would skip 2013, Yerli replied simply: "I don't know." The game's debut trailer is below.'' I just think that their vision for the game was too ambitious (very typical with Crytek) and they had to shift it into development for Kinect 2.0 alongside 720, especially with no signs of it releasing for at least another year.

Yeah, Kinect aside, I think it's similar to what's happening with The Last Guardian: the project was too ambitious and hardware-taxing to work this gen.
Accept they had gameplay on ps3 in the trailer so I doubt it's about hardware.

MS gets crytek to make an xbox exclusive and it's for kinect? really?

For core gamers that is a crysis.

This was the only Kinect game I was remotely interested in at the time.

With more power in the X1080, and a much better Kinect we may finally have the first true "core" Kinect title on our hands.

Hopefully it's a fully thought out game rather than a simple on rails arm flailing game.

They haven't showed anything beside a few teasers. How does the game even play?

No one that wants Kinect for anything but Dance Central or Kinect Adventures is going to buy Kinect over ONE decent hardcore Kinect game (assuming they can be the exception in a long line of stinkers).

They should have scrapped this long ago.
