You should read the Throne of Atlantis series of Aquaman and JL. Like DarthJay says, he's completely different from the dip he was...pretty much always. He now has abilities out of the water and can beat Superman while in the water...

Marvel's Captain Marvel is a stain on the industry. The only reason it still exists is to retain the rights to the name Captain Marvel. Nothing but a clone of the original, which is Shazam. Mar Vell hasn't been in any significant Marvel stories and is frequently dead or de-powered. Even Miss Marvel is nothing more than a ripoff of Supergirl.

Ahh...I see. Aquaman is a more useful Namor. Imagine if Namor had the depth and character of say...Steve Rogers and the strength of Superman. That is how Johns writes Aquaman.
He use to be awful 20 years ago, and less so 10 years ago. Today, I think he's as good as the Trinity...
