Gamebreak - Aliens: Colonial Marines

Max Level: "Sega’s third stab at bringing the Alien franchise into gaming was the most highly anticipated to date. Aliens: Colonial Marines had most of the odds working in their favor. A nice release window with other sci-fi shooters being few and far between, a high profile movie franchise with a cult following to base the game on and big name developers Gearbox Software (still revelling in Borderlands 2 success) slapping their god-like touch on the game." (Aliens: Colonial Marines, Gearbox Software, PC, PS3, Sega, Wii U, Xbox 360) -

It's nice to see a review that doesn't pull any punches

Hopefully people will take this with open ears

Well, that was unexpected. I didn't think that game would be like that.

Welp... I'm glad I didn't pre-order!
MeatheadMilitia  +   1015d ago
This was the top selling pre-order on Steam and to think this is how it turned out. That has cannot sit well with the developers.

Had a feeling this was gonna suck..

Alright now that I beat the game I thought it was okay from the get go, Nothing spectacular but as it went on it didn't fully feel like Aliens to me. I agree with the reviewer on several points as well. One thing that baffles me is the Season Pass on PSN/XBL now; I mean I don't see too many people buying any of the dlc the way it's going now.

I just...I just want to know what happened the game had such an interesting vibe in the beginning then it went somewhere else.

I couldn't agree more, I have no idea how they plan on selling anymore Season passes for this game with the way it's been reviewed. Pretty much, if you bought the season pass prior to getting the game, you'll be one of the few that has it.

Yeah the only thing I could really want is that "horde mode" something that would perhaps make it seem like Aliens if it has the right atmosphere. Yet after playing what has already been given from launch I doubt it will be like that, but I don't know... I just feel really confused right now about the game...

I agree. I might Redbox this game just to try it for myself. But with the reviews being the way they are I couldn't imagine buying it, let alone getting the season pass.

Yeah renting is perhaps the best option it's not really a long game nor that hard ( even on hardened mode ). Probably more enjoyable with the 4 player co-op but I couldn't find anyone sadly. Probably would have breezed through it in half the time if so.

if your a fan youll like it. if your looking for call of duty you wont...really that simple
BriTyBriT  +   1015d ago
I know some Alien fans that don't really care for it either tho.

I'm liking it so far. It's happened many times this gen, but once again I don't understand what all the hate is about. Perfect? No. Worthy of a score less than 7? Not that I've seen. People seem to expect perfection. That will cause them to have very unhappy lives.

Yeah I have a friend who's a die hard aliens and predator fan, really doesn't like the game.

It looks like this will be a bargain buy for me

This game is a prime example of how I don't understand that tons of people buy into Season Passes... 1 it ups the cost of your day 1 initial cost... and also the off chance as in this instance the game sucks, you're double dooped!

look at what Gearbox did with old ass Duke... now old ass Aliens... pretty sad when a Re-release of Doom 3 pretty much matches this game in the graphics department!
