Obsidian would "love to do Fallout: New Vegas 2," chat with Bethesda "all the time"

CEO Feargus Urquhart of Obsidian Entertainment would love another crack at the gambling capital of the world revisiting Fallout: New Vegas, or just the series in general. Fallout: L.A.?

They'd definitely stick to the West Coast, so it would "probably be The Boneyard," which is the city built apart L.A.'s ruins. There are plenty of obstacles right now, like platform limbo.

I really hope they do...i would rather like new vegas 2 than fallout 4.

fluffydelusions4081d ago

Don't say that. Surely we can have both :)

Despair6664081d ago

i was just about to edit my comment to say just that :)

Jek_Porkins4081d ago

I liked New Vegas well enough, but I'd be really interested if they did a Star Wars RPG. I thought KOTOR 2 was pretty good, rushed but good. If they had a proper development time it could be great.

Monkeycan84081d ago

Obsidian has been talking about doing a new Star Wars game! so yea win win! :D

Irishguy954081d ago

Obsidian want to do NV2 and Kotor 3.

Please let it happen, if South park SoT turns out really good i'm sure other devs will give them a chance again and hopefully without giving them a ridiculous deadline

KaBaW4081d ago

I approve of that statement. I'd rather have a KoToR 3. Great games.

BanBrother4081d ago

That would be pretty cool. Next-gen games please. Fallout 4 and Fallout NV 2 (or name it after wherever else it is based) would be awesome. Still, they must be kinda sour after they missed the bonus for not getting 1 point higher on metacritic.

SaiyanFury4081d ago

I received Fallout New Vegas for Christmas a few years back, but for some reasom I never really got into it, I can't figure out why. I guess I had too many games on my plate at the time. I recently bought the Ultimate Edition and I'm having a ball. Slightly glitchy, but it's a grand time. I just found out that Mr. House's actor is Rene Auberjonois! I'm a big fan. I looked at the voice cast on IMDB, and I was duly impressed by the roster. I do look forward to NV2. :)

Heisenburger4081d ago

The soundtrack really blew me away more than anything else. I should go back and complete it...

I'm a big Patsy Cline, Katie Thompson kind of guy so the music absolutely thrilled me.

Going and slaughtering Ghouls whilst "I'm so Blue", or "Big Iron" plays in the background is magical for me, as I usually play games with my own music playing.

8bitHero4081d ago

obsidean did a great job on new vegas, but one of my main issues with it was that the setting was beyond boring. it was just sand, sand, oh look vegas! oh nvm its separated into 3 tiny parts with like 6 npcs per section. lame. but gameplay + story was better than FO3. also if they do make another FO, go easy on the whole cowboy theme, its annoying.

Knight_Crawler4081d ago

So you are blaming the develoeprs for the lack of RAM on the 360 and PS3 -_-

Some of you people compaling about games like Skyrim and Fall out make me sick - Bethesda did there best to make sure we get a descent experiance with the dinosaur tech that they haev to work with.

Hydralysk4081d ago (Edited 4081d ago )

You act like Bethesda HAD to release console versions. They are their own publisher, if they wanted to take advantage of the PC they could've done it by just not going for cross platform.

Also, would you call a save game bug that was omnipresent in the PS3 version of Skyrim that rendered the game nigh unplaybable making sure we 'get a decent experience'? They even withheld PS3 review copies so the bug wouldn't affect day one sales.

Back on topic FO:NV, was a great improvement on FO3 and frankly I'd rather see FO:NV2 than FO4.

8bitHero4081d ago

thats an excuse for consoles, not for the pc version. modders shouldnt be the one optimizing the game for the PC because bethesda doesnt feel like it.

Brian’s Totally Realistic Hopes for E3 2018

Brian from CultureJam writes: I’m a guy who knows what he likes. I’m demanding, unrealistic, and not as funny as I think I am. Frankly, if I weren’t so devastatingly handsome, there’d be no reason to pay attention to me.

That being said: games people, please pay attention to me and give me what I want.

I’ll be at E3 in a couple of weeks, and if I see even half of what’s in this list, I will be a very happy boy.

Now that the dust has settled on that Fallout New Vegas 2 rumor from a couple of weeks back, lets talk about the possibility of it actually happening.

Hope not

If you are going to spend years doing a new Fallout game then give us a new location. The map in New Vegas was alright but not something you could reuse again.

TheBurger292603d ago

Washington state area would be cool. New area but could still bring back some of the characters. Although I would like a time skip, maybe 50 years later or something.

Magnetar2603d ago

I think WA would be great for it. they could do some interesting stuff with Seattle considering its a city built on top of another city.

SolidStoner2603d ago (Edited 2603d ago )

New vegas was the best fallout bethesda created.. so I see no surprise, while I would love to see a new area, I loved vegas for its vibe and colours, not to mention desert (in post nuclear war it reminds me of Terminator 2 desert scenes, really epic if done properly!). would be cool to revisit that area in bigger, better scale!

RedPill862603d ago

With everything Fallout 4 did absolutely wrong, reusing a map (probably future) and changing it enough to feel new is the least of the worries this possible project could have. Fallout 4 was supposed to have this awesome Boston setting. Rarely see anything that makes you think Boston. The entire center of the map was boring, the lower right corner didn't have much going on. Lower left corner was baron.

Profchaos2603d ago

Cause Boston was hit with a nuke so makes sense it didn't resemble a like for like version

TheColbertinator2603d ago

Boston already looks like a barren wasteland anyway

gangsta_red2603d ago

I agree, would like a new location but I would also want this group that did Vegas to make the next Fallout.

Fallout 4 imo was one of the biggest let downs this gen.

ecchiless2603d ago

I dont think obsidian gonna work with bethesda soon, but who knows, they are working in poe 2 right now.

_-EDMIX-_2603d ago

No

I admit I did not like Fallout 4 as much as I like Fallout 3 but please dear God let's not exaggerate, it was not that serious.

I like obsidian as a developer but the reality is when they created Fallout New Vegas and also when they created Knights of the Old Republic 2 they were creating something off of a pre-existing concept that another developer created so with the exception of pillars of Eternity we don't really know just how much this developer can do from the absolute round up, so I would actually rather Bethesda create the Fallout base game and then have Obsidian add on to it.

gangsta_red2603d ago

@Emix

"...but please dear God let's not exaggerate, it was not that serious."

I keeping making the mistake that Edmix's opinion is way more imoprtant than anything else in life, forgive me.

"I like obsidian as a developer but the reality............"

I pretty much dozed off at that point.

Mr-Dude2603d ago

I hope somewhere in EU or China.. Show the rest of the world.

-Foxtrot2603d ago

Yeah the spin offs should be set around the globe location wise

TheVetOfGaming2603d ago

True. They need a fresh engine, new enemies, a completely different map etc...

_-EDMIX-_2603d ago

Agreed.

To my understanding the rumored leaks actually put it in New Orleans

If I have to listen to Johnny Guitar one more time I'm firing a fat man at the radio

RedPill862603d ago

I'd like another game from these guys, but A it would have to be in the future with a lot changed (bigger hubs, map should extend farther out by a lot). I don't see a real issue with it beyond it being the same map, which could totally be worked around. I'd much rather have this than Fallout 4. Man that game had identity issues. Dialogue wheel? Talking protagonist? No thank you.

terrorofdeath2603d ago

Yeah, I think they realised the dialogue wheel and talking protagonist wasn't a big hit with the fans, so it would be nice to see them take a slight step back, create something akin to New Vegas while working on improving the game engine OR one day...use a new engine.

RedPill862603d ago

There's a lot less RPG to boot. Fallout 4 really wasn't that great. The inventory system was screwed up worse than New Vegas. Tons of hit detection problems as always. It didn't give the improvements the series needed. Mainly size, density, and hit detection.
