Hardcore Gamer: Take note everyone, this isn’t how you make people want to play your game; actually it’s just the opposite.
i did find that to be a bad commercial just cause it really didn't have much to do with the game itself. I mean it could have ben an ad for anything tbh.
I miss kevin butler :( It didn't matter what game it was, he just made it awesome
Yeah, the ad really wasn't very good...
It would've made more sense if it just showed him cutting something with a knife, slip up and get really mad. I mean really, it shows a kitchen and it didn't show a knife in a commercial for a game about cutting things?
could have been worst
i wholy disagree with this guy, i mean i can see some of his points but he acts as if metal gear never had silly commercials before, and on top of that this is not the worst video game commercial ever, infact this commercial is very reminiscent of commercials of the 90's to early 2000's, its a good commercial, and persoanlly really internet first boxart, and now videogame commercials, at least there advertising the game what are people gonna complian about next the color of the box, the size, shape, the freakin logo
You are spot on with saying that its like a 90's/early 2000's commercial. I loved how whackey and hilarious they were. Im sorry but I give this commercial 10/10 for nostalgia.
Time for me to put in all the other MGS commercials :D MGS: http://www.youtube.com/watc... MGS2 JPN: http://www.youtube.com/watc... MGS2 Sub Xbox: http://www.youtube.com/watc... MGS3 JPN: http://www.youtube.com/watc... Commercials that praise the games: MGS2: http://www.youtube.com/watc... MGS3: http://www.youtube.com/watc... Commercials that were serious / had a movie tone to them, MGS3: http://www.youtube.com/watc... MGS4: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I dont understand why they couldnt have just used Europes commercial for America too, I much rather the European one
Because his sword monologue sounds kind of silly and it in an anti-climatic way. People forget the American commercial shows a lot more crazy action too which is what will grab peoples eye for the game. It's also not the only commercial for Rising that is showing in America.
No the worst commercials was PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale live action 2. Not only did it fail to showcase ANY gameplay, it wasn't exactly clear what it was trying to market.
That commercial just felt very generic.
It wasn't that bad. At least it had actual game footage that looked pretty awesome. Doesn't really fit the game, but I definitely prefer it to Halo's brand of pretentiousness.
this from the guy who plays "Lollipop Chainsaw"
Well at least it makes more sense than some MGS ads...
dude... i don't even speak japanese and I understood it was sunny and olga
Except it's not. Especially considering one of them is a man. lol
wait what? Well then... what does it mean... because sunny and olga is the only thing that would make sense
Is that Gackt holding a baby?
Actually... That commercial pretty much sums up what MGS2 is all about and the message Kojima tried to convey. Well it's basically about what we decide to pass on to the next generation - admittedly, it's pretty confusing if you haven't played the game... Which I guess shouldn't be a requirement when trying to sell the game - But, Snake's ending monologue should at least clarify the symbolism I guess.
it shows a guy getting ready for work and everything starts going wrong for him... but then the commercial mentions how it's time to finally start cutting stuff? Lets have a commercial of a dude p!ssed before going into work, wanting to destroy stuff! LMFAO I don't really care, but if I could see how that commercial could be twisted... cant other people as well?
Yeah I guess, but it's not he went into his car with a sword or something.
Honestly the commercial was not that bad. I would nominate any of the thousands of disturbing advertisements Sony puts out for their consoles and games as worst video game commercial ever. Worst COMMERCIAL ever? Nah... not even close. I kind of liked it. I don't think it does a good job of selling the game, but it feels like a nice throwback to videogame commercials of yesteryear. It definitely had an old-school vibe to it. Kind of like the Ratchet and Clank commercials back in the day. Less funny and clever, but... charming in a way. :)
Worst commercial for the worst game that has "Metal Gear" slapped on it.
I think the NES version of Metal Gear would like a word with you. Or even Metal Gear Solid: Touch! Bleck! D:
MG1 & 2, Where good IMO, they need a remake.
@TheOneEyedHound he was talking about Metal Gear 1 for the NES which was a port of the original MSX version that had no involvement from Hideo Kojima and didn't even have Metal Gear in the game.
I heard DmC flopped hard lol
awww,Donte, i heard your game flopped man, you need some money man, maybe raiden will give you a check once he hits the lime light, or maybe kratos or bayonetta will help you out.
Bayonetta can cheer me up, and I don't even like her game.
It saddens me how childish "Donte" is
who made this commercial? 24 hour energy drink? o.e
What class is this, commercial making 101?
It's not a great commercial, but whenever I hear hyperbolic talk like this it makes me wonder how much context the person has. The ads in the '90s were really awful, both in TV and print. Considering that even Nintendo took the lowbrow approach this Metal Gear ad is just a harmless commercial.
Actually had a discussion on ads and how the ad itself is related to the product it is advertising in an English class. More than 90% it had nothing to do with the product. Ads are purely emotionally driven or what catches the users eyes most. This ad isn't too bad.
I didn't have a problem with it. Life stressful? Take your stress out on this badass ninja game.
This commercial is too funny I'm guessing this guy is pissed and gonna go on a rampage like raiden
Worse than this? http://www.youtube.com/watc...
This commercial looked like it glorified the false picture of unstable gamers which go berserk and massacre people in schools and such.
Everything about this game is terrible! Can't wait for the disagrees! :) Own about £500 worth of Metal Gear merchandise and every canon game! This is a sh*tty spin-off like Ac!d.
Then don't get this like you didn't get Ac!d 1 and 2(you might have but you didn't say you did) its not like Ac!d is still going. And I can't wait for MGR:Revengeance. =D
Whew, I'm glad I not the only one who thought it was dumb as hell!
Pretty bad commercial. Worst? Don't BS yourself.
It was confusing.
"Having a bad day? Cut stuff up in this game to make it better!"
I was pretty disappointed with the commercial, BUT it had a very '90s video game commercial feel to it. If that's a positive...
Someone has watched very few commercials.
How do game developers who make awesome games and probably have really creative minds constantly come up with such shit game commercials?
Really sad how no one understood the meaning of the trailer and everybody started calling it the worst as ever.
While I wouldn't call this a good commercial, it's far from even the worst video game commercial. Wanna see a bad commercial? Look at the early PS3 ads (Baby, Creepy Girl, etc) or the Holiday 2009 Jane Lynch ads for 360.
Shoulda been.. the guy had kids, theyre at the table complaining how hungry they are, the dad is already pissed, the guy slides in with Raiden sword, and knocks all this unprepared food(milk in the carton, cereal in boxes and toast poppin up from the toaster) into the air as he picks up Raidens sword, and slo-mo chops it(but the kids see it in real time) until it all falls perfectly into their bowls/plates. The kids look bewildered then METAL GEAR RISING..BUY IT AND YOUR KIDS WILL STFU! Then the last shot is the dad using the sword to rub butter on the toast and the mom comes in and startles the dad..he chops her dress off to reveal she's a milf. BOOM..you should pay me Konami!
I liked it. Nothing spectacular but certainly not bad. Typical game journalist hating because he's can find any real news. Try being a journalist and break a story, don't make up one.
Worst demo ever.
