LBP dev on mystery game: 'There's exciting things happening in the studio' we'll learn 'soonish'

PSU writes:

"While the exact nature of Media Molecule's unannounced mystery game (possibly teased earlier today) is unknown, PSU has exclusively learned that the studio is prepared to talk about their next title soon." (Media Molecule, PS3)

Media Molecule, playing your games gives me that child-like level of excitement and intrigue and just hearing about what you guys will be doing next has the same effect

@ fermcr

I think this new game will be something extra special... If I recall they spent around 5 million on R&D alone. Including R&D they have now spent just around 3 years on this new "mystery title", which they call as being very ambitious, far more so than LBP....

They will most likely out source the next LBP... But I bet this new game will be full of style, innovation, be dripping with creativity, and be as far from generic as games get...

"Soonish" is feb 20th I am hoping...I cannot wait to hear/see what they have cooking...

If the PS4 is announced it would be nice to have a MM game waiting for us.
calis  +   682d ago
Yeah I read "soonish" as Feb 20 soon
Freak of Nature  +   682d ago
That sounds right to me...Lets hope so...
MasterCornholio  +   682d ago
LOL and that game would probably be more innovative than any of the Wii Us launch titles.

I just base this assumption off the fact that MM are extremely creative devs.

If it's LBP3 then I don't think I'll be able to hold off buying a PS4 too long. I usually do, but the thought of all those amazing possibilities a more powerful console could offer, gets this dull, grey heart pumping

Or it could be city of metronome because tarsier studio signed a contract with Sony.
Kevlar009  +   682d ago
What was holding LBP back before? Seems like imagination of both players and developers is the most important factor (unless we're talking about huge game worlds)

Way more physics to play with sir.
Wind. Fire. Streams, temperature and realistic deformation and destruction of different materials and properties.
ziggurcat  +   682d ago
i'm kind of excited to find out what this is.

@ gribblegrunger:

doubt it's LBP3... they've said in the past that they're sort of done with the IP (at least for now), and would like to do other things.

i've no doubt that a new LBP will come out when the new playstation hits the market, but i don't see this mystery game being it.

Yeah, you are probably right, and thinking about it, I'm sure I heard a rumour that another studio was working on LBP3
Freak of Nature  +   682d ago
Yes it was Sumo digital...

It don't matter what they are making I will buy it. MM has not let me down so far so I have no doubt in my mind that this will be another great game from them. Just seeing MM name on the game gives me a lot of excitement waiting to hear what is next.

It's amazing how Sony has a lot of studios with in studios lol wouldn't be surprise if MM molecule are divided working on more than one game
R_aVe_N  +   682d ago
I believe most of Sony's first party people have more than one team in each now.
remanutd55  +   682d ago
And all of sony's Elite studios or first party studios should do what Guerrilla Cambridge and Media Molecule are doing and develop a psvita and next gen playstation games at the same time.

IMO Media Molecule is the best new Developer this gen, creating a masterpiece as first title(LBP Metacritic 95,fourth highest rated game ever). They really deserve the same respect as Santa Monica, Naughty Dog and Guerilla Games
koston3647  +   682d ago
These guys know how to make a good game.
The gaming industry needs more developers like media molecule
