I'm 34 and I'm in the best shape I've been in my life so I certainly don't feel old, haha. That said, I have the game on my SD console setup with my original NES and I play it frequently. I love how the game never gets old. Sometimes I play it here on my laptop via emulation.
ashame Konami or Nintendo not willing to make 25th Anniversity game for wii-U or Contra Game PERIOD for wii-U......
with that being said: i feel older as well lol
WII-U could really capitalize on Contra, battle toads, streets of rage, strider, bad guys, clay fighter,G-darius,Gradius,R-typ e so forth. why wish all this when we can protest to Nintendo.
wow, many years have passed.. soooooo where are any news about 3DS Contra, whych was some 1-2 years ago at E3? I hope its not canned.. at least please release Hard Corps: uprising on 3DS! OR BOTH! :) :D am I asking too much? :) I'll buy both
I've been trying to find a copy of this game in some of the local retro gaming stores, but I can't seem to find one where the label on the cartridge is in good condition.
They teased a Contra logo at the end of Konami's pre-E3 presser 2 years ago. I don't know if anything came of it. I think not... unless there was a Contra game on a handheld that I missed. Anyway... did a quick search and here is a GameSpot write up on it.
Theres a lot of great games that need reboots.. Next gen is perfect to do it as it opens up ways for indie devs to make em or AAA power houses.. Bad Dudes, Contra, Stider, Streets of Rage, Battle Toads, Re Reboot of NARC, etc
What about super contra at the arcade, bad dude, karate champ, wow how I miss the late 80'early 90'....I still play Shinobi from the genesis collection on ps3
Contra is my favorite co-op game to play on the NES, it's just too bad it's harder to reel in friends to play the NES at my age. There's so much to love about Contra, the fast-paced run-and-gun, weapons upgrades, music, large boss sprites, the 80's Action Blockbuster feel, 30 lives for each player after entering the code. I've never attempted to beat this game without the code, I like dying with abandon.
oh damn the shivers :) i remember playing the game but damn 25 years have passed? At least i am proud i was there at the beginning of gaming and now i see the evolution of gaming. New kids won't ever know about those great games only by randomness play or reading about them but the feeling we feel today remembering those days are priceless. i remember arcade days, entering in a arcade and seeing all the games was heaven back then.
So many childhood hours dumped into contra. Good times.
I played so much Contra with friends in the arcade and on NES. One of the best two player experiences of that era.
